by Ramesh Dodani on Apr 20, 2010 10:24 AM

something is terribly wrong in our system

same indians when working abroad are part of new deveopments / reasearch / inventions

but in india its big ZERO

It cannot be our education system - but the our
government system / lack of inovation & very little money being put on research of our industry

This way india just cannot cannot leader but

If a small island of Singapore can develop[ a an artillery gun it puts India to shame who can't even develop a strategy to control population let alone an artillery gun.
WHAT A SHAME ON GOVERNMENT AND INDIAN INDUSTRY.

A small country like South Korea can
beat us in the game of Automobile ma
nufacture.A smaller sountry like Singapore can make Artillery Gun;but
we can not.We failed to manufacture
semi conductors used in all electro
nic items. And lastly we failed to
manufacture Cryogenic Fuel which misfired the GSLV Rocket resul
ting in its falling into the depths of Bay of Bengal. This is all due to India Shining.

It is very sad to note that people in this forum cannot digest singapore supplying arms to us. Gentlemen, Singapore may be a small country but it has got the world's best universities, R&D and human life index. Size of the country doesn't matter. Singapore R&D is a mix of Chin-Malay-Indian. If a country as small as Israel can produce fantastic arms why not singapore. It is typical indian mind that we don't accept an intelligent neighbor. Singapore is a great and clean country. No indian city can match. Their forex reserves are much more than india. They have the best airport and ports in the world. All these achieved through discplined legal, political & administration that India lacks and atleast 100 years behind. We have to accept good thing that comes from anywhere. Best wishes to STK.

Regsrding your "we do not accept int
elligent neighbor",our Govt. failed to recognise Israel in the name of Imperialism and Capitalism during the periods of Nehru and Gandhi.Rec
ognition was given only after libera
lisation. As for Singapore, luckily they had Administrators like Lee Kuan Yew and Dewan Nair.India is still to be favoured by such good luck.

India can never become a world power just relying on service sectors, unless it's manufacturing sector improves . India will still remain where it is today even after 50 years.

Mr.jhunjhunwala , while I d appreciate the advances made buy indian scientists , but we still have a very long way to go. I think u understand , that it's the manufacturing sector that ultimately drives the economy. neither service sector nor the agriculture sector which itself depend on manufacturing sector , Don't u agree?

Dont u hear even in manufacturing sector we are slowly making waves? It takes time and cannot be done overnight. Many of our food and consumer durable products are pretty popular in the world. So are our pharma products and then in automobiles too we are making a steady impact thr Tatas, Ashok Leyland, TVS, Hero Honda and Mahindras

@jhunjhunwala publishing an article is not same as developing and manufacturing.
What use is an article if it does not produce any practicality.
It is waste of time and efforts.

if indias technology is not upto the world standard then what do you consider world standard.now world leading institutes in their respective fields are partnering with indian institutes in their respective fields.let it be aerospace, avionics, automobiles, engineering.failures are part of the game but achievements should not be belittled.

technology for europe and america for their futuristic aircrafts, spacecrafts and automobiles are being designed in india.do no forget that in india itself there is such a huge consumer demand that it has very little surplus to export.right now the other manufacturers are looking at indian markets for their growths as their own markets are saturated.one case in point are the maruti suzuki design engineering team whose indian team have designed their latest models.nano has made the automobile industry of the whole world have a relook at that sector.if you would have made the same points let us say 15yrs back would have agreed with you.
