if indias technology is not upto the world standard then what do you consider world standard.now world leading institutes in their respective fields are partnering with indian institutes in their respective fields.let it be aerospace, avionics, automobiles, engineering.failures are part of the game but achievements should not be belittled.

technology for europe and america for their futuristic aircrafts, spacecrafts and automobiles are being designed in india.do no forget that in india itself there is such a huge consumer demand that it has very little surplus to export.right now the other manufacturers are looking at indian markets for their growths as their own markets are saturated.one case in point are the maruti suzuki design engineering team whose indian team have designed their latest models.nano has made the automobile industry of the whole world have a relook at that sector.if you would have made the same points let us say 15yrs back would have agreed with you.

good. We can call Indian technology world class , omly when we sell our products to European and Americans which seems unlikely

IGNORANCE IS BLISS
by HP Singh on Apr 19, 2010 10:08 AM

52 or 45 or 39 calibre do not relate to the size of the projectile. Calibre of the gun remains 155 MM. The 52 / 45 / 39 calibre indicate barrel length. Most commonly used 155 MM barrel has been 39 calibre. 45 calibre was introduced as an interim barrel length, not adopted by most countries. Now the switch over is to 52 calibre barrels. They offer longer ranges and better consistencies with same projectiles. The best guns were offered by Denel. I speak on authority of having trial evaluated most of the said barrels. The reason for accepting one over the other (at Ministry level) relates to which country offers best under the table. Excuses are created to disqualify the unprofitable offers. Vijayant tank (Vickers) and the Abbot Self Propelled gun came from the same British mother firm, which failed to sell us the FH 70 155 MM gun. The Army was forced to accept, to its everlasting regret, the said tank and SP gun by the Govt. Even now Army will ultimately get the Gun the Ministry decides on. If Army is reluctant to accept, this process of evaluations will continue for another decade or more. After all the safety and security is the exclusive responsibility of the Armed Forces, and not that of the Babus and Politicians.

THEY BLACK LIST COMPANIES WHICH HAVE THE BEST GUNS IN THE WORLD WHEN IN TRUTH THESE COMPANIES WERE DENIED THE SALE BECAUSE THEY DINT PAY BACK MONEY TO THE DIRTY CORRUPT INDIAN NETAS BROKERS AND THEIR ARMY LINKERS..

NOT AN SINLGE GUN IS WORTH BETTER THAN THE BOFORS..WE WON THE KARGILL WAR DUE TO BOFORS ALONE..NOW SOME FOOL SAYS THE COMPANY IS BLACK LISTED SO WE CANNOT BUY FROM THEM..

INDIANS ARE THE MOST CORRUPT RACE ON EARTH..THEY SEND THEIR OWN ARMYMEN TO FIGHT WITHOUT EVEN GIVING THEM PROPER SHOES CLOTHING OR WEAPONS..THEY GIVE THEM THE WORST OF FOOD TOO..THE CONDITION IS STILL THE SAME 1962 TYPE..EVEN I AM SURE WINTER CLOTHING ISNT THERE FOR OUR SOLDIERS..EVEN PROPER AIRSTRIPS ARE NOT THERE IN FORWARD SECTIONS..IN MOST CASES WE ARE ONLY HAVING SOME DEFENSIVE POSTS..SAME LIKE 1962..WE DO NOT EVEN HAVE PROPER GUNS..THE WEAPONS WE USE ARE INFERIOR EVEN THAN THE ONES USED BY THE LOCAL MAOISTS..ITS SUCH AN SHAME THAT WE MAKE SO MUCH FAN FARE ABOUT BUDGET ALLOCATION FOR DEFENCE BUT THE FACT IS WE DO NOT EVEN BUY 40% OF THE SUM ALLOCATED..AND WHEN WE BUY WE BUY ONLY OBSOLETE WEAPONRY FOR WHICH ALWAYS WE HAVE TO PAY LONG TERM BRIBES TO KEEP THEM IN WORKING CONDITION..THE ENTIRE NATION IS FILLED WITH WEAPONS THE BRITISH LEFT US..SUCH AN CORRUPT PEOPLE WHO EXPOSE THEIR OWN MOTHERLAND TO SUCH RISKS..THE LAND FILLED WITH TRAITORS ALL IN FORM OF B-ANIAS..

Best Artillery guns come from Russia, but as you say, the supplier must be in position to supply more than just the guns. India has three Armoured / Mechanised Divisions and large number of Independent Armoured Brigades. Unlike Pakistan, none of our said formations is equipped with tracked Self Propelled Guns. Since 1985 a British Firm has been attempting to sell us its SP gun, but the Army has always found it wanting. So, between that company and our MoD, it has been ensured that no other company is allowed to fill the fire-power gap in the strike power of our strike forces. Russia offered us equipment at less than one -third the cost of similar equipment from the other countries, but apparently their offer was not complete. The guns offered by Russia were superior to guns offered by other countries, being far more robust and having superior ammunition handling. Even today, Army continues to suffer from the said shortfall. This remains a shortfall in the nation's military power, if only we could understand that.

Wasteful Expenditure
by ng on Apr 19, 2010 08:27 AM

Our Army is top class, brave and hardworking.

However, they have to work under Dr.MMS.

What's the use?

Instead, we should donate this money to Pakistan to come and kill us.
