This is India - most probably politicians are benffiting from the illegal trade in drugs and guns so there is no urgency to complete the fencing. Why else would such a project not get priority.
In early 2000, the NSCN first arrived in our district Tirap in Aru Pra. They were friendly. Within a year or two, they began collecting money from us, abducting and killing prominent leaders. Now, they want us to support in creating Greater Nagalim (Who will support , everybody hates them)...If the fence is constructed, i can say for sure that militant outfits in NE will decline and in a few years, it will vanish (Because almost all of their training camps happen to be in Myanmar only)...But once again Indian Govt has to have a cautious look on Indo-Bangla Border, the another militants hole to enter NE.
It is a good proposal but as per the article, the vested interest will nullify the effect of fencing. Once again I would tell that the antinationals languishing in indian jails & roaming free must be punished for their life provided state & central govts have gutts & will to do because they have to forego vote bank policy.

Fencing the Burmese border is of national importance. It should be taken up immdtly and no amt of delay must be tolerated in this. Not just terrorists, but also arms traffickers, smugglers, drug lords and other shady criminals find it convenient to shift to and fro Indian side from Burma.
