avoid negative attitudes
by ratan kumar on Sep 26, 2009 03:21 PM

People should refrain to have general approach to analyase every thing. It is scientific community's job to excel towards high end technology. And they did it well. It is no way a waste of money. People talking it waste of money does not know that all those developed countries have credit of developing new technologies. So they are leader in that and earning huge amount of revenues for those inventions. I think, though we are laging behind those developed countries in many aspect, but we are on right path to cruise ahead. Please avoid negative attitudes towards our own intelectual.

Shame
by Srinivas on Sep 26, 2009 01:13 AM  | Hide replies

Moon Mapper was developed and deployed by NASA and three US Universities. The data was relayed only to NASA from Moon Mapper. Indian scientists have no idea of what the data is all about.
But after ths announcement by NASA, Indian scientists are claiming credit for discovering water on moon. This is outrageous.
Worst is Madhavan Nair made several flip-flop statements after C-1 failed prematurely, now with the NASA data, ISRO is rejoicing, there was no experimental payload from India.
ISRO spent only on rocket (from tax payers' money) and the benefit goes to NASA and 3 universities. Still ISRO has no access to the data acquired by the moon mapper.
Why did NASA tie up with ISRO, well India was begging for high tech collaboration after US suspended hightech tranfer due to POKHRAN-II (another flop show by Indian scientists).

It's very shameful to see ISRO claiming NASA's discovery.

sure i agree mapper instrument is of nasa ..but one cant undermine the effort and intellect of isro regarding chandrayan. this is our first and bold step towards moon research .
another thing i like to mention is that even tough mapper is an instrument of nasa the revolutions or pnavigation around the moon for the satelite are defined by isro thats what made the discovery possible.
i am not denying the fact that isro has failed to live upto thier target set by themselves and there is need to reconcile and take steps to not repeat those mistakes again.
i respect ur views but word 'shame' is a bit too aggressive term to use .indians should be proud of their fellow men who achieved a lot we allways tend to fail recognising our peers abilities untill another one recognises them .i guess this is high time that we think and give respect to knowledge community who strive hard day and night to make things better for india instead of working for us for highly paid jobs

No Sir, that's not the way to go. Let the people discuss and learn from it. Truth cannot be altered by a comment here and there. Great minds should just wait it out. Continue our work undeterred. Lead by example.

Publishing photos increases risk of the scientists.
Just publish the names.
Isin't that sufficient.
After all india is not too safe a country till
parties sort out their differences on terror.

It's absurd, These guys are top management not the scientists
by BharathKumar M on Sep 25, 2009 10:43 PM

It's absurd, These guys are top management, Where are the real scientist who worked day and night to make it a successful launch. It's as usual top management get's the all the credit when it's a success. Somebody should put light on who the real scientists made it a success.
