Sir, I hardly know anything about developement of Kaveri engine. However I sincerely feel that if DRDO fits the name of Sage Agastya in this program then India will be blessed with KAVERY.
There is no doubt that Offspring comes after the Parents and not b4 it.

GTX-35VS Kaveri

GTX-35VS Kaveri was being designed for 60.0 kN thrust and now this news says it can deliver 16,000 Horsepower i.e. 17.6 kN; not even half!!! What went wrong? I have seen few govt. labs and how people/scientists work there... govt. of India please push these people (scientists and engineers) to the limit, I'm sure Indian brain can do anything if used efficiently. Privatize all govt. Labs set goals, objectives and take hire and fire policy and then see how these same people perform for survival; I can say this because we are doing this as an employee of a private limited company.

Don't confuse Power with Thrust. Power is rate of energy delivered, which has nothing to do with Thrust which is force.

Wikipedia says:
power (watts) = thrust (newtons) x speed (metres/second)

It would be interesting to know how you arrived at the numbers you state.

kN is force whereas hp or kW are kN*m/s. And thrust in air is much greater than thrust in water because of the velocities. Thrust and Power are not comparable.

You are right! but "In its present form, the Kaveri will never power a modern fighter." -this sentence no doubt is a matter of concern :(

What do you mean failure in space - ISI agent?

Chandrayaan lasted as long as the Chinese and Jap spacecraft and rfinishes 90% of its tasks!

They may be failure by western standards; but from indigenisation point, they were a success. Projects of this complexity can be perfected only over time. Also, I think govt. should take more help from private sector in some of these fields.

true. Armchair experts don't get it. Western standards were made after years of toil like we are undergoing. But there is no substitute to it. Our so called govt could do so much better in terms of funds, support and management.
