cong converted maharashtra to bihar

cong converted maharashtra to bihar not in terms of bihari population, but in terms of bihari misrule of scarcity of power n load shedding n goon-raaj.

load shedding was always the term associated with bihar state, but maharashtra took 'pride' in engrossed in load shedding.

Good signs in Congress
by mallaiah anchoori on Oct 25, 2009 08:10 PM  | Hide replies

With complete departure from the past which was known for changing the CMs just at the pleasure of High Command-that too at the behest of a single individual,Congress has ushered in an era where it started respecting the democratic norms,of late, very assiduously. And retaining all the three CMs of the newly won states stands testimony for this.Sonia is conducting in a pragmatic way without giving room for unhealthy criticism. She is proving in stark contrast to her late mother-in-law who used to change the CMs like commodities at her will & pleasure. The way things are moving in Congress party,it augurs well for it;even in case of AP also, she has not budged an inch in her stand of retaining Rosaiah despite so much of noise created by a majority of the MLAs supporting Jagan whom she knows will be proving resourceful for fund raising for the party like his late father. It is a good sign!

Sir, In Congress the decisions are still taken by a single individual - The Congress President from Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. Nobody else in the party is worthy to take a decision.

Well I will put it this way - Its people who are voting feel that the decisions made by a single person is better than no decisions being made or having party seniors not respecting the decisions being made in the meetings. There should be a person to play a "moderator" role and that person has to make tough decisions.

Absolutely. And today people have no option.

This situation is more dangerous. A weak opposition and absence of a viable alternative would make the ruling party autocratic and indifferent to people.

It is evident that due to lack of a viable alternative the Govt at the centre has completely ignored issues like price rise, law and order, terrorism, corruption, poor foreign policy etc. They are assuming that they are right and these are non issues.

I remember in 1998 Delhi people had voted against the Govt as onion prices had soared to Rs 30 per kg. In 2003, middle class of Delhi voted against BJP for no relief in personal income tax by the finance minister.

Indian Voter in no change mode
by S Shrikanth on Oct 25, 2009 08:06 PM

During the last one year Indian voter is completely indifferent and has been in no change mode. The general elections and assembly elections too showed the reluctance of Indian voters to change the existing regimes. Delhi, MP, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana have shown that the voter has voted for stability.

But their is a dark side of this indifference. The voter is ignoring vital issues like Price rise, terrorism, worsening law and order, recession and job losses, lack of development in most of the country, corruption. By now punishing the Govts responsible for their misdeeds the voter has chosen to put stamp on their failures. Maharashtra is a typical example where the voter has voted for a failed Govt. Only Haryana and Rajasthan are exception where voters have punished the Govt.

The most worrying thing that is being seen is shrinking of opposition. This will be very dangerous as we are heading towards 1970s when monopoly of Congress Govts in states took full advantage of lack of opposition and made the country poorer and backward.

Congress CMs
by Ramsingh Sachan on Oct 25, 2009 05:16 PM

I think the incumbentCMs desrved it for the time being. The opposition parties could be advised to focus their attention on the wrong, expedient and corruption ridden implementation of govt policies if they want to serve the people and improve their image.
