Need better policy from goverment
by Ravindra Kumar on Oct 11, 2009 06:55 PM

Indeed, all the data is there to prove that uneducated farmers were behind the success of green revolutionin Haryana /punjab. Then why did not Bihar, UP, Westbenagal and so on leaders, intellectuals think of implementing policies that EMPOWERED them.

Alas! these/intellecxtutals/human right advocates are worthless.

India needs IDEA men/ women in leaders rather satraps.

We are talking about Nobel Peace Prize. Peace Prize should go to these innovative people, not clintonites, Obama and Musharaff.

Why not then Peace Prize for Musharff Chine prez who has been trading all lethal weopons to destruct a miniscule hindu minority nation.

Indian Farmers are great
by Anumakonda JAGADEESH on Oct 07, 2009 06:56 AM  | Hide replies

Though the success of Green Revolution is attributed to some individuals, it is the "Uneducated"(may be illiterate but not ill informed) Farmers of Punjab and Haryana who brought about the change. All credit should go to them. Ours is an agrarian country and Government should take all steps to consolidate the agrarian economy. So long as erstwhile USSR was concentrating on Agricultural Development, it was a mighty Nation. In their race with USA in Space Programmes, USSR economy shattered. Along with IT, AT (Agricultural Technology) should be given top priority to boost up our rural economy.

you are absolutely right Dr. Jagadeesh, AT is actually much more important than IT. In another 3-4 decades you would see that farmers have migrated to big cities except for large land owning farmers. perhaps we will have to imporant people from poor african nations work on our fields. probably a nice thing to happen

Please listen to a documentary named - GMO Trilogy or Genetically modified organism.
There you would see and know about the catastrophic effects due to Green revolutions, BT cotton, GM rice. We are doomed now due to that and due to globalization.
