while what happenned in gujrat cannot be justified , i had one question for the media and documentary makers . how many documentaries have they made on kashmiri pandits since 1989 ? there women were ravished , their private parts were cut off brutally in public places , pakistan zindabad etc was written on their bodies , was that not genocide ? or does it not matter ? 4 lakh kashmiri pandits were pushed out of their homeland in kashmir and they still live in inhuman conditions , am sure the documentary makers feel the 2000 dead are more important as they belong to a certain community ? from 2002 till date we have had thousands of films , books , documentaries on gujrat , how many on kashmiri pandits since 1989 ? i guess arundhati , teesta etc etc will all be ok with this , right :-) ? four lakh ousted from their home state is fine , 2000 dead is not - wow this country has some sense of fair play and sensible media ! long live secularism !

Green Technology and India
by Ramsingh Sachan on Oct 02, 2009 01:20 PM  | Hide replies

The green technology and poerty don't go together. So also the 'organic farming' and poverty. The developped will have to incur more expenditure not only in adopting green technologies themselves but also to subsidise the technology trasfers to the developping countries.THIS ADDITIONAL COST HAS GOT TO BE BORNE BY THEM FOR OFF-SETTING THE PAST EXPLOITATION AND DAMAGES DONE TO THE ENVIRONMENT.The 'global warming' is largely their creation. The poor countries will require extra support systems in helping the world comunity reduce the global warming while maintaining the tempo of their growth.

china has ebaten india and usa to green technology and we r biting the dust.

our babus/netas r the real culprit and
we bigger culprit as we electe such anti indian forces.

india started with gobar gas which is much ahead of its time but it bit the dust due
corruption and neglect.

wind, solar, etc even jatropa for dielse and
algae for oil...all r so promising.

can we do it ??

or import it from china as usual ???

wonder when we will be a united country and stand up against usa-china-pakistan.

Green is only lip-service in India
by partha sharma on Oct 02, 2009 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

What is India's contribution in 'Green Technology' right now?

It is either NIL or very minimum.

India's R&D in Green Technolgy is also very limited.

India's business houses, bisness personnel, politicians do not support Green Technology. Whatever little we find or hear are only lip-service.

Under the above scenario and mindset, we may not be able to do whatever our minister is dreaming. We need wholehearted support and not the superficial one, in every respect.

None of our politicians care about anything related to environment. Some groups and individuals do make noise about it only. Our ministers are sparing no time to rob trees from forests, convert all agricultral land into plots for buildings, and never clean any river or ponds. Our posterities will pay a very heavy price for all these lapses deliberately made by our rulers and associated crooks.

Go for it!

If we work towards energy independence, we will be free from the clutches of oil cartels. China is buying up all oil reserves, latest in Nigeria with upto sixth of their total. With two trillion dollars, better to put the money to work before it becomes a banana currency. Dollar downfall can pull us all into an apocalypse that we have not seen yet! Where did the trillions come from to boost liquidity in the market to save banks & insurance companies? What an irony when their rating agencies failed to rate themselves junk?

Obama wanted to turn US as a powerhouse for green energy with wind, solar etc meeting their most needs. Then again who else, but China is undercutting them by supplying the basics at a price that US cannot dream of. So the petro dollars have turned into another trade deficit with China for renewables.

Yes, we have the capabilities but our bureaucracy & infrastructure will be the bottlenecks. By the time we wake up, the game will be over! Rural US family is happy when the wind blades turn as it is money for the power that they feed to the grid. Our aam aadmi can also smile when the sun shines for solar power even in remote villages. Then we can also shake our legs, like the sheikhs!

The possibilities are mind-blowing. Imagine the internal cumbusion engines biting the dust from the onslaught of electric cars getting their inputs from solar energy.

Nevermind nobody gives us credit, but did we not find water on the moon?

Just do it!!

Aam Admi
Re: Go for it!
by Aam Admi on Oct 02, 2009 12:41 PM
Very well said. But unfortunately, there is no body to listen to your wise words. Media is exploiting the evils of society and politicians are busy addressing their wants and needs. It certainly makes sense to use solar energy, particularly for feeding the needs of remote areas. What not start somewhere. Somebody can think of utilizing solar/wind energy for purifying sea water for Lakshadeep Islands etc.
