tamils existed in srilanka very long ago even before SL was formed, all under the british.After independance, tamils were not given equal rights in their mundane life very similar to how indians were treated by british raj.so, what did india do? we had a gandhi and british were little decent not to kill him coz of his peaceful tactics and at the same time due to german pressures. Now, prabhakaran was neither gandhi and Sinhalese were not british.Both SL and prabha are brutal and hence there was no choice for peace.SL tamils need their basic rights and there is no question about that.Now that prabha is gone, india should do something drastically to uphold that. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Well first sympathies goes with the Tamils who were not given constitutional rights and who valiantly fought a racist state. One man who who stood up was Prabhakaran. But the same man has in years down the rod become a maniac. Now the Tamils were caught between a state sponsored killing and a phsychopath Prabhakaran. When every other Tamil leader / politician says Prabhakaran is filled with vengeance and revenge, I am not sure what makes Vaiko and others in Tamil nadu think he is sane. One would argue that just for the sake of being a Federal Minister Karuna gave up LTTE. But the truth is if he didn't get Govt protection, LTTE would have slaughtered him. But what was the reason for Mahattayya, Karuna being called spy? Its nothing but intense power struggle within LTTE. Also the Prabhakaran dictated "Ideology" of LTTE was going overboard. It looks like it applied to all cadres but not to the Leaders. They seem to be having good time with family and have air conditioned bunkers but the cadres have to eat cyanide anytime they are about to be rounded off. In the end the losers were Eealam Tamils. They lost a 25 year battle and now live alone just because of one ego maniac Prabhakaran.

Talk about Revenge and LTTE - the LTTE has not even left a dog alive which barked at their cadre ! Leave alone someone talking about their great ideology. Look at their Leader Prabhakaran - he has give safe passage to his wife, daughter, son. Where did his son Charles Antony study - Ireland and Aeronautical Engineering. What about other fighters who could not afford these for their kith and kin? Ideology lives long only until Leader follows it. Why not his family stay in Eealam like others?

well atleast prabhakaran had the balls to form a army of 10000 to take on an army of 2 lakhs. srilanka, pakisthan, china and indias combined efforts resulted in LTTE defeat

I am a Jaffna Tamil.
1 - We don't need sympathy when your government is doing all it can to protects Sri Lanka from human rights violation investigations. We are tired of looking at India as our fatherland and as a regional power to do the right thing. We are disappointed that India gave economic aid so that Sri Lanka can use their money to buy weapons. We know that India trained Sri Lankan army personel to aid in our killing.
2 - I do agree with what you said about DMK. The same very people who shout to stop genocide will vote for DMK. Its double standards.

Mr Kumar, what about Col. Karuna, he was a LTTE TOP ranking officer, its because of him that LTTE lost its will to fight, why are you leaving him ?
I am not a fan of LTTE, violence and Prabha Can you tell me? 1. Why the Tamils of srilanka took up arms in the first place? (We know the Tamils in general and of srilanka are such a peaceful people, there millions of Tamil population in India, which is one of the peaceful places in India). 2. How can you say that only these people are terrorists, then what about the roughly 10000 minority tamils people killed by majority sinhala people in the 70's and 80’s. (It was learned that some of the prabakars relatives were victims of frequent riot by Sinhalese, which prompted him to take up arms. 3. Why you guys are denying the basic rights of the Tamil people?. 4. Why you guys silenced and killed the people who protested your aggression in peaceful manner?. 5 if your country is a pluralist, why the army and other armed forces are 100% Sinhala?. 5. how can you keep 100% sinhala army aganst 100% tamil civilians, the chances of abuse is very high. There are reports that already there are lots of young tamil boys and girls are keep missing form this camp. 6 why the so called liberated Tamil civilians are kept at the gun point in concentration camps?they could have been sent to home.7. From 1949 to 1977 a number of Non-voilence movements by Tamils under the leadership of Mr. Selvanayagam was suppressed by the Srilankan Govt with force. At that point of time they did not fight for separate nation but for equal rights. Only after Black July riots in 1983 which claimed lives of more than 1000 innocent Tamils, terrorist organization started to gain popularity among Tamil youth's. Genesis of LTTE and similar other outfits can be primarily attributed to the gross injustice of the Srilankan Govt to Tamils and their "ONLY Sinhala" propaganda. In India equal rights to all citizens is guaranteed through constitution, and political parties are interested in providing more provisions for the minority people. Whereas in Srilanka the Govt systematically and steadily took measures to suppress minorities. For instance tamil students has to get more mark than Sinhala student to get a place in university. They were also denied opportunity in Govt jobs. Many basic rights were denied to Tamils. So as long as such social injustice exits, new terrorist organizations would come up with different strategies and would continue to exist without any end. Now both Tamils and Sinhalese are tired of war, all they want is a peaceful environment to live. So devolution of power and providing equal rights and opportunities to all citizens can only ensure peace
