Cost of Life!

The British have got the Nepalese serving in the Royal Army since decades!

The US with its perceived interventions in Central Asia which could take a toll on the native American troops, is now pwermitting sikhs to join the US Army...

What is the US game plan behind this?

The answer: The life of a native American soldier is much precious than that of a non American!

Nothing else!

Nepalese is a nationality and Sikhism is a religion - don't get them confused. British allow non British Nepali individuals to join their armed forces. In this case I assume the Sikhs are US citizens or residents. I don't think it claims that the US will set up recruiting stations in Punjab as the British do in Nepal.

Sikhs are great warriors and have fought valiantly in world wars for british.. Same is also true for Gorkhas,Rajputs etc who are equally brave...
Let us be proud of all Indians joining US army and nothing wrong ...This clearly shows the recognition by US of Indians are faithful & patriotic to the country they serve.
Great indeed!!!!!!

thats not the case.......if anybody lives in a country and enjoys benefits like all others then they should be allowed to serve in the defence forces the case of UK /gurkas is a different story If Indians had the opportunity of serving in the UK army they would have jumped at the opportunity its a matter of choice for these non citizens yet in USA all citizens ust be compelled to join

Why crib on value of Amercian solider versus Sikh solider. Does our UPA or any Indian govt cares for ordinary Indian citizens, who are dying thousands and lakhs due to lax security guarding borders, punishing culprits without bothering road bank and improving infrastructure like better roads, etc.

Even is Sikhs are used as fodder cannon by US in its great game in Central Asia, at least their families will be taken care economically. Ask any Indian matry family, how they are looked by Indian govt, then you will know which monster is better.

secularism

Modernity is a basket of aspirations interlinked in the subtleties of an expanding mind, from gender equality to bakeries to highways to English medium schools to elections to a thirst for newspapers in unknown small towns. Modernity is not about an immature rejection of habits or tradition. A muffin may sit easily beside a dosa during breakfast in Kottayam or Hubli; and a croissant beside a parantha in Rampur. The bar in Mangalore is not about alcohol. It is about choice and freedom from the grey shadows of a moral police. But this is the easy part.

A modern nation is defined by four non-negotiable rights: equality of citizenship across origin and gender; secularism; liberty of speech; and economic equity. It is obvious that the politics of our country works, which is why every election result is a surprise to politicians.

The article does not say Indians are allowed to join US army, it says Sikhs. The Sikhs still probably have to live in the US.
