Diaspora can empathise but the reconciliation is of Sri Lankan s
by D goel on Aug 07, 2009 12:48 PM  | Hide replies

D. Goel ,Pkl., afternoon12.40pmFriday, Aug . 7th 2009.
Mr Deepak Obheroi rightly states that any Diaspora including Tamil or Sinhalese in Canada can only marginally contribute for national reconciliation of the two ethnic identities lamentably in conflict of almost civil-war like environment in Island Sri-Lanka.
LTTE is history, now, one wishes it is never revived. But we in India can never write off
our Tamil Kins for all the political costs we may have to bear for their Basic Dignity and Cultural Rights in addition to equal Sri-Lankan Citizenship. This constitutes Bench Mark for any Indian's view of this vexed issue.
Tamil is a great language , Tamils have contributed in Contemporary times to men of the highest achievements like Shrimati Shubbulaxmi, Subramania Bharati , poet , CV RAman, Physicist , and last but not the least greatest Mathematician of India nay of the the modern World Srinivas Ramanujan. Tamils are a prized stock ,as far as intellectual culture is concerned, and Sinhalese must give them full opportunity to enrich Sr-Lanka-D. Goel

Mr Goel, thanks for your contribution. Two things that I disagree with your message (with all respects due to you). Firstly, SL Tamils in Sri Lanka have equal citizenship rights. The only thing that they need is 'political recognition' since practically a Tamil cannot become the President or Prime Minister of Sri lanka, though the constitution provides for it. Because the population is approx. 78% Sinhala. However, there was a move to make kadirgamar as PM but 'proud' SL Tamils never accepted him as a Tamil because he entered National political stream and was against LTTE. Secondly, all tamils you have mentionesd in your message are INDIAN Tamils. And there is a vast difference between indian tamils and srilankan tamils, though the language they speak are same. Just how the spanish speaking carribean and spanish speaking spanish or swiss!! (For example). Otherwise, the tamils from north of srilanka was spitting venom against indians. Now they are trying to hold a straw. It is always better to SL tamils to enter national stream and drop their war mentality. But as long as the 'foreign tamils' are there, this would only be a dream. I am an Indian having close and long standing commercial connection with Sri Lanka.

Tamils should build rapport with the Chinese
by tamil boy on Aug 07, 2009 12:05 PM

Eelam Tamils should build alliance with the Chinese. India has help the genocide/cleansing and putting the remaining Eelam Tamils in concentration camps.
No point looking toward the traitors or Tamil haters. Chinese are business people, so Eelam Tamils should start building rapport with the Chinese government.

A kannadiga statue in Madras does not elicit a opposing response anywhere in TN . Why is the kannadiga organisations create such a huge cry for a tamilian statue in Bangalore ? Afterall bangalore is built by the help of Tamilians too and everyone will accept this...

The original people of Bangalore were the Tamil Thilagars. Thyese boorish rural people were tricked into sellign large tracts of their lands to the Reddies. A very large section of souther Karnataka should have gone to Tamil Nadu, when the states were reorganised. However many Tamils opted to stay with karnataka and are now regrettign this decision.

Mr Prasad, why U want to show hatred towards Tamils? In India people cannot live only on their soil. They are bound to migrate to other States for their livelihood. Kannadigas r also peacefully living in other parts. India has a strong workforce and we can show our strength to the world. We should respect each other sentiments and should not have hatred on language, regions, etc

Despite being Tamils, certain Tamils belonging to a certain community in South India for reasons known only to them aided and abetted the ethnic cleansing and the genocide of the Eelam Tamils including their own Brahmins. They have more or less achieved what they wanted to they are quiet. They then complain and are surprised as to why their fellow Tamils do not like them. They also do not realise tthat to non Tamil all Tamils are the same white or black aryan or Dravidian.
