He better avoid that in the future also,I am from sounth India, but if any foreign government even try to touch the Kashmir issue, they will become Indian enemy No.1.

Like the british idiot miliband tried and now facing the music,we should warn british not to mess up with India again,we have thought a lesson to them once.

Even USA or Obama should not be spared,we are a strronge and powerfull nation,we produce almost every thing under the sun..and we can survive...we have survived for 5000 yesrs and 200 hundred years under british...no big deal.

Indian government should act tough with Pakistan and these soa called western allies..its high time.

On the contrary, Obama has set his priorities right. He's focusing on the most troubled spots as far as global terrorism is concerned. I hope you are not a Pakistani sympathiser, because the root cause lies in Pakistan where terrorists are born, brought up, and exported to other countries. This needs to be stopped by addressing the key issues that germinate such hatred in the fanatic leaders of terrorism.

Yes, military operation is not the final or only solution but it can be used as one of the means to root out this evil. Besides, Pakistani government needs to address the grassroots issues that trouble people and force them to look out for other options just to escape the dreaded realities of everyday life - poverty, hunger, and livelihood.

A special envoy will engage in a dialogue to understand the real problem and seek out ways to address them. The Bush administration concentrated only on the Pakistani support in the war in Afghanistan without much focus on the civilian side of the problem. Hopefully, this change in approach will result in a change in mindset as far as popular support to terrorism is concerned.

the root lies in kashmir where india doesnt want a special envoy! accept it! u cant treat a symptom if u neglect wats causing them. Obama just saying kashmir is core issue stirred indian policy makers speaks volumes abt how honest u are about peace. u can go for elections but not plebscite that u have signed in UN citing reasons of sepratists. whaht bigotory elections are ok plebs is not! good going!

Kashmir or no Kashmir, Pakistan needs a way to stand up to be a civil society. Terrorism will not take it anywhere-it may break up --> that happened to Soviet Union, when they forgot about the economy.

Also Paskitan should forget about Kashmir- to be more pragmatic. India has such dreams about Tibet and Akshai Chin..lot of us dream of liberating Tibet and also other side of Kashmir but we know, whether we like it or NOT, its about LAND...not the people on it. FOr centuries people fought over land, so getting that won't be easy..and no one will give a piece of their own..even if thats troublesome or no use at all. Can Pakistan give away NWFP region to Afganistan-its the touble maker of Pakistan and I don't think Pakistan gains anything economically from that region , although it has to feed that region?

Be Practical. Stop day dreaming... and listen to what Obama said.

India and her neighbours

As we all seem to have realised India has no international credibility. This stems from Nehru’s time.He formed the Non-Alignment movement with Nasser and Tito, this resisted until Nasser died, the very movement that no one even remembers. The NA members sat on the wall since their opinions never could influence Inter.l politics. India continued weakly swaying this way and that, demonstrating at every turn that our country has no character. We have “hmmed and hawed” our way through every issue, large or small, wanting to please everyone, never going against anyone, east or west.
In the end this wishy-washy lack of responsibility has boomeranged when we begged for support against Pakistan's terror attacks or China's annexation of our territory. No one can be bothered to listen or give minimum attention to India. Can such a “friend” be relied upon? No.
The Chinese openly contrast the west's doings. They are forceful and resolute, their views are clear cut & they aren’t ignored. They have become a force to be reckoned with. India sneaks help to Myanmar when professing to be democratic when the west isolates the dictator. Everyone demands, India delivers. We applaud the Chinese when they chant “Hindu-China bahi bhai” and immediately lose the war with their aggression.Even Bangladesh, Srilanka and Pakistan don’t listen to India, they know there will always be some soft Indian ready to betray India and support them, whether it is Bengal,Tam

Soon Clinton will dictate terms and India will bow down giving up Kashmir. Terrorism will not stop, the world knows how unsure of ourselves we are & how unpatriotic we can be supporting our neighbours who speak our language rather than our fellow countrymen.

Ashok, what nonsense are you talking about? Obama didn't want to appoint an envoy for S. Asia because India doesn't like the idea. That means India has credibility in the world, not other way around.

Reality is not pessimism. On the contrary if we can foresee how people will behave and what events are likely to take place, we can work towards changing these in our favour.
You seem foolishly oblivious that we have infiltration from three countries that are being assisted by the politics of these areas, namely from Pakistan, Bangladesh and China. Thinds may seem better if you don't want to face reality, but then we cannot complain then if terrorist attacks, illegal immigrants and encroachment of our territory take palce, can we? Who can we blame if not our inefficient and incompetent politics?
Happy Indian:
I have mentioned Clinton coming up with demands, not an envoy. A little more attention please.

This is utter nonsense. We DO NOT have a bad relationship with Nepal, Lanka, Burma and Bangladesh. We have problem with some I-slamic extremists in Bangladesh. Only Paki-stan is our sworn enemy. Our relationship is pretty neutral with China at the moment.

It is good that a clear message has gone to US not to meddle in Kashmir. The last thing that should be discussed when u are dealing with fanatics and terrorists is LAND. Only pakis are making an issue of Kashmir, no one else.

But land should never be compromised. It is better to first enter a third world war.

just because its a strategically located land all this fuss is happening if i was jharkhand or tamilnadu no one wouldve bothered
by the way if the US did decide to intervene there wont be much the helpless indians can do about it they couldnt do nothing when pakis attacked how can they stand up to US. Pakis have two very powerful allies US and China and whom does India have the rusty soviets who are bullying India on gosrhkove and their outdated Migs that keep fallin g out of the sky. Its time India allowed US to become their maai baap and invest in India's Infrastructure its always give and take india expects lot of investment without conceding anything that can never happen. India should allow a US base in Kashmir end of story!!!

India does not need to offer base to US. Regarding Russian arms, I believe India is not phasing out old migs. Latest Russian arms are fine. India should continue its policy of being non-aligned. US already has a huge investment in India.

India with all its drawbacks is a thriving democracy. Indians are soft by nature. These two facts are written on the wall everywhere. Today we are one billion plus in number too. What does this say.... no one can just ignore us or subject us to do what is not in our interest. So that says it all. High time the so called paper tigers take note and join us in the path of cleansing the bad guys, slowly but steadfastly or oppose us and join the bad guys. The end is there for everyone to see within the next few years.

There's an Indian cricket fan, a Pakistani cricket fan and a beautiful woman sitting next to each other on a train. The train goes through a tunnel and everything gets dark. Suddenly there is a kissing sound and then a slap!! The train comes out of the tunnel. The woman and the Indian fan are sitting there looking perplexed. The Pakistani fan is bent over holding his which is red from an apparent slap. The Pakistani fan is thinking "Oh God, that Indian must have tried to kiss this lady, she though it was me and slapped me." The lady is thinking, " That Pakistani fan must have moved to kiss me and kissed the Indian fan instead and got slapped." The Indian fan was thinking to himself...."If the train goes through another tunnel, I could make another kissing sound and slap that Pakistani again."

Dumb Americans never get it.
by Red on Jan 23, 2009 07:23 PM  | Hide replies

Instead of treating the cause (Saudi Funding, Pak ISI and Pak Army) they are treating the symptom (Al Qaeda, Taliban).

America cannot tame a bull by holding its tail (Al Qaeda/Taliban). America needs to hold the two horns (Saudi and Pak) of the bull (Russia and China) and then root out the tail (Al Qaeda and Taliban).

Al Qaeda and Taliban (former Mujahideen) is an American creation in the 1980s. America continues to provide military and other aid to Pak terrorist state. Taliban is funded by Pak ISI (form American aid) and poppy smuggling.

God give some brains to Americans.

Americans need to redraw the map of Pak, Afghanistan by freeing Baluchistan and Sindh; returning POK to India; merging NWFP and FATA with Afghanistan and either landlocking remaining Pak (West Punjab) or merging it with India (into one Punjab state).

Obviously the ISI, Pak Army and nukes should be destroyed thereafter like in the post Soviet Union.

India will remain impotent even if a military tsunami occurs on our borders or a terrorist tsunami occurs inside India.

If India wants kashmir it should abolish article 360 and allow immigration into kashmir. That is the only way. By preventing others into kashmir they made kashmiri pundits vulnerable to muslim attack and genocide.Otherwise India should let them go.No point in spending billions of Indian tax payaers money on Kashmir.
