Come to Mumbai or Kolkatta,You can see the reality.The political leaders who control slums dont allow them to prosper,since once slums is gone,they cant save their vote bank.I have been associated with some slum Rehabilitation projects in Mumbai.Even before starting the projects,they will mislead the slum dwellers sayiny that the will be forced to pay heavy maintenace once they move to good home.Then they all slum dwellers of same area to be accomodated in same building in same area so that they can again control their vote bank.Even if you are in your thirties ,you will end up as High Blood pressure patient by the end of the project.
I think we are being hypersensitive. Every single movie about Los Angeles (the homeland of the Oscars), such as the Training Ray, Collateral, Street Kings portrays its poor and dark side. I just think some things such as underworld, ghettos and small lanes add visual suspense and hence are picked by directors.
It is also amusing that the guy who acted in Don, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Zanzeer, Coolie, Mard, Akhree Raasta (showing murdering someone in a courtroom) suddenly wakes up to showing India in bad light.
Well bollywood shows india in a completely wrong way....they shoot in malaysia and say its bombay..they shown karina kapoor with brown hair making others believe that indian girls are blondies......is this not insult to indians?....They show all extra marital affairs among young indian couples coming mostly from bombay area....is this not insult? Why amitabh or Mr. benegal never criticized the wrong doings of bollywood?...Who is showing real india and who not? Thank you.
Why not some foriegner should not direct SlumDog.. DO we reserve the right as indians to only show indian bad and good things.. I dont think so.. IF thats the case, what u call the so called Bollywood movies that generalize and show south indians as bad mannered, lousy english speaking, low lifes.. What u guys were doing at that time?
