deepak chopra's brain is frozen, not western science
by sanjay subbarao on Dec 29, 2009 02:10 AM  | Hide replies

Looks like this nut case's brain is frozen.
All the benefits of modern technology we enjoy today has its origins in modern/western science. newtonian mechanics laid the foundation for modern mechanical gadgets. All the formulas regarding mechanics and gravity are proven right, every time man sends a probe to moon or mars.
This well spoken man specializes in coming up with crap theories.

Watch deepak chopra in love guru
by mini on Dec 29, 2009 12:40 AM  | Hide replies

Love Guru is the worst ever sleazy movie I have ever seen. It mocked every aspect of Indian philosophy and practices in the most nauseating way. Deepak was a part of that movie!! Watch out to know his true face.

Why astrology has answers?
by Sachin Purohit on Dec 28, 2009 09:38 PM  | Hide replies

While Deepak Chopra is right about the fact that Science has not been able to answer what happens at sub-atomic level, the very uncertainty that governs the entire universe, he is not giving any answers as to why he thinks that Astrology has resolved all the mysteries that Modern Physics has still not been able to.

That one way of looking things has not yet worked, does not give any legitimacy to the other way. Especially when this other way does not give any logical explanation as to why it should be accepted. You don't accept something just because a Deepak Chopra and a couple of Physicists are convinced about it.

Which physicist is convinced about it? Deepak chopra wants to be convinced thats why he is. I feel astrology should be left to people as a tradition and cultural heritage, because we dont know about its validity yet. Time will test its validity. So far logics against astrology is strong, also most of the atrologers dont know the calculations it seems.
It not true that science has not been able to answer what happens in subatomic particles. We have several theories working well, we have defined particles like muon, meson, higgs boson etc apart form electron proton and nutron. The problem is there is few experiments as it requires space and money. One experiment was done in CERN with hadron collider to prove the existence of Higgs boson. Deepak chopra and likes, would not conveniently read science and go to lecture semieducated people to misguide them about capacity of science!
One thing is clear after we know the origin of universe, most of the nonsensical religious dogmas will be removed.

Deepak has gone buts
by Loknath Rao on Dec 28, 2009 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

Deepak Chopra seems to be doing an increasingly irrelevant talk of despising anything and everything. The diseased still lives on with the hopes of power of medicine and surgery and many have lived much much longer and healthier..many eye surgeries, many limb replacements, many heart transplants, millions of by-pass surgeries have bought smiles ot millions world wide incl. India. Some of the best doctors of western medicine are Indians too. If everyone can think and do like Deepak Chopra sans all the money and success, there is no doubt that we dont need doctors or medicines. To the not so well-formed minds Deepak can express his way of thinking and healing in a way that can be easily assimilated. Perhaps a lot of "techniques" exist and known to many but they are simply not practised. period.

well said. western medicine has improved both quality of living and life expectancy that has never been seen before. Perhaps other medicine had on top of that, but they cannot match western medicine by itself.

clearly you have not understood the gist of Deepak's message... he is not arguing about the physical benefits but the very essence on which western science is established... e.g. fixing a limb or an eye or a heart are physical solutions versus spiritual healing that has more to do with mental / spiritual health i.e. consciousness...

Let us be chary of these Gurus
by Ramesh on Dec 28, 2009 06:23 PM  | Hide replies

Here is one more of the pseudo-Gurus who have infilterated Bharatiya Vidya and can only cause harm to the precepts of Sanatana Dharma. The other famous ones include Jiddu Krishnamurthy, Prabhupada of Krishna conciousness, Puttaparthi Sai Baba, Maharshi of Transcendental Meditation movement, Art of Living Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ....

These fringe elements of Sanatana Dharma who have good command over the spoken English have assumed mainstream discourse in media. Unlike the distortion of the local gurus who are known only with a limited regional confines and can not cause much damage, these stalwarts have incredible amount of money plus followership of rich and powerful.

After the Acharya trio of Adi Ahankara, Sri Ramanuja and Sri Madhvaa, there is a void in acharyas who do not mix business and religion. Some say openly as Sri Sri, without exhorbitant fees for Art of Living, he cannot support charity. Well...

Ramesh and like ones, This is a typical Indian mentality... you do no good for the society .. but criticize/pull down great visionaries like Sri Sri... City charity cant be done with empty bowl..
Millions have benefited from Art Of living courses... 30 Cr people have done the course... Foolish people only look at the surface... and comment.. like me before I was not spiritual...

charity cant be done with empty bowl
---------
The charity of his kind does not add any real value, at best transfers value after substracting from it.

The lack of intellectual authenticity despite receiving modern education renders him a devalued intellect.

In the swamps of thought process where real knowledge can not be kindled his kind of fake spirituality sprouts.

In Sanatana Dharma, true knowledge is not something which needs to be preached, the emphasis is on discovery it only. Likewise, nobody expects a scientist to preach his laws. The seekers of truth shall come to those fountains of truth on their own volition and shall acquire it after due disciplining process. These adhyatmik truths need to be consistent with bhautik truths, i.e. be consistent with rigourous verification of sciences.

Did jiddu krishnamurthy contradict that? Neither Sri Sri will. You cannot put them (a noted advaitist) with deepak and prabhupada in the same line. Jiddu is too deep to be understood properly.
