indian voters identified more with the PM's stoic leadership and the Gandhi family's carefully built up squeaky clean, moderate image than the rigid, right-wing stance of the BJP.
Elections in india are a pure math and money game and kangress for beeing longest in power has a better set up to make people vote for them, musies also play in their favor.
People at local rural level vote more on the person and his liquor and money power rather.
Most people give the indian voter more respect that it deservs.

1st January 2010 is going to be celebrated as Bycycle Day.
Adopting Cycle is going back to roots and controlling the menace of Cars. More Cars on road is a sign of rising divide between rich and poors. Car aggregates the problem of Air Pollution leading to Climate Change.
Car Owners are facing the pinch of recession. Another attempt is to make Nano Car to tide over recession but all in vain. Cycle and Tricycle is the new fad across India. Respect Human . Respect democracy of Road.
Ensure your participation and help build Healthy India.
