economic power also must
by kailash vashist on Jan 12, 2010 05:20 PM

definitely we should boost our defence power and purchase and develop new tech millitary equipments to grow a strong nation but should learn lesson from Russia. While competing with America Russians spent huge money to become stronger millitarilly and lost economically as Russsia failed economically and became poorer.
So we should grow economically more to fund our millitary expenses.
India govt. should slap minimum extra 25% customs duty on all chinese goods. WTO is there but there are so many ways to protect this policy/say,extra customs duty. Only problem is, I fear/feel so, that our influencial policy makers are sold out to china and thus are making import policy according to the wishes of china govt.

India cannot trust China: Former NSA
by Vinayak bhide on Dec 27, 2009 09:14 PM

WHAT INDIA needs is Aufr i.e was a massive effort led by the NAZIS in the early 1930s in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. During its struggle for power the National Socialist party promised to recover Germany's lost national pride.
For that we need is not only RESOLVE but a good adimistator/Defence Minister & a excellent Finance minister like Hjalmar Schacht, with rigid control & getting things get done in TIME.

Yes, don't trust
by Shankar Nag on Dec 24, 2009 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

We should not trust China, Pakistan, Srilanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and even Russia. We must keep ourselves in a paranoid of imminent war and pile up expensive weapons. We need not worry about infrastructure, unemployment, corruption, pathetic administrative systems, regional politics, lingual/religious/caste based hatreds. We should keep listening to the crappy statements of creased, bald headed, wornout NSAs, Generals, Admirals etc.
China is going miles ahead of us. We are not even eligible to be their competitors. Look at the way they conducted the Olympics. Our Commonwealth games preparations are still going on, thanks to the another useless old f-a-r-t Kalmadi.

I see no contradiction between development of military might and infrastructure development. Both can be and must be done together.

USA Vs China
by MJ on Dec 24, 2009 03:48 AM  | Hide replies

We can trust more on USA than China, atleast USA will dump its product only, but not interested in War with India, USA does not have any border dispute with India. India should play diplomatically, China's main target is USA, not India. India may be intermediate, but Cold war between USA & China will start v soon. So, India should work diplomatically & keep distance with China, but don't make hostile position.
I feel that China will break very soon under burden of its communism & human rights abuse. But, it may take 2-3 wars before that. So be caustious, don't show any fire to Dragon, keep quite & watch.

target-why not India main? India is soft target and fulfills china's requirement, a huge market for Chinese goods. There is no comparison between America and China--Raja & runk. Forget about recession in America; it is same 20% in America and 20% in china. In America mainly financial institutes are failed and not industrialists, industrialists are so shrude that they have made huge money on behalf of recession.

if he is CIA agent, CIA is the agent of USA, and USA is a new growing ally of India, so no real problem there i would imagine. I would rather trust US than China, since they are natural allies.

WE created terrorism when we allowed creation of the muslims states of Pak-W and Pak-E. US is confused and at a loss with Pak, and could plead insanity for it's actions, hence no charge. WE should have known better.

China has given nukes, long-range missiles and fissile material to Pak. Question is not of trust, when we can clearly know that present Chinese regime is beyond redemption. If only rest of the world would see it too, then life would be a lot easier.

India needs to change it's naive attitude
by Jaganath Bharat on Dec 23, 2009 10:01 PM  | Hide replies

China always uses asymmetric force against India through Pak, UN-P5 and NPT. India hopes to fight China with a straight head-on rally. Instead India should be focussing on less predictable means to defeat the crooked Chinese. Of course that requires courage, and when we see our leaders and intellectuals are busy killing and looting each other, it becomes a very sad situation. Only a united India can overcome the huge enemies. Caste, communal, race and religious discrimination and violence must end immediately.

Is it the Chinese are crooked, or it is us Indians? I read international media, and i rarely hear Chinese talking about Indians being their enemy.

international media is now in the chinese appeasement. Just like in 1930s about hit ler.

Everyone admires and respect the powerful. Also issues of China with India are mild and bilateral. Where as they are tied up in US-China relations and growth of China as a superpower.

I agree that Indians are no angels. But by supporting pak and recent hegemonious approach it is clear, china wants to be the leader of asia. I think they beleive 'when it comes to the top it is only one'.

in contrast to India's largest english speaking population on earth, most of China cannot speak anything but a simplified Mandarin. This way we never understand their media, while China can barely communicates with their own population, and that too only in orchestrated "people's voice of China" Thus, censorship combined with poor chinese communication skills means we never hear China call us enemy, but due to their actions we sure FEEL IT!

China is communist country. India is a democratic country. Common Chinese people are less interested in politics as common people of India are very much interested in politics.Chinese Govt. is self sufficient to take her final decision while Indian Govt. depends on its mass views to take the decision.Thats the reason one can not hear/ read in any Chinese magazine or international magazine where Chinese are uttering that India is their enemy.
