No surprise. Official machinery is at the ruling party's disposal. Plus people also sense the obvious benefits by electing an MLA from the ruling party, rather than get an opposition MLA.
Eminent people have written on this. Common people of TN say this routinely in markets. Villagers attend speeches of candidates not to listen to them, but to take their "gifts".

No fair election possible in a country voter's are poor. They will vote for those people who gave them one hundred rupee note, one saree and a bottle of country made liquor.
Condition of Dalit Christains in Tamil Nadu is very very poor. They are totally neglected. Roman's and other upper castes of christain faith are treating them as slaves. Govenment of Tamil Nadu should provide 25% reservations to them

There is no dalit Christian, if you are a real follower of Christ and if you abide in his Words He will help and you don't require any reservation

Either you are dalit or christians. You cant be both. Embarassing another religion is not a solution to have pride and respect in the society. Believe in your Hardwork and skills.
