What exactly is Indian culture...are we in any way greater or on par with any developed nations with this Culture Tag...I always see so many fellow Indian's brag about the great Indian Culture..but am yet to find out has this in anyway really helped the nation..our society lacks Honesty, clarity, cleanliness, discpline, nationalism, patriotism, accountability, responsiblity, our food is adultered, our medicine is mostly faek, our Judiciary, police, politics is all muddy..its so very difficult to sport even an honest face..almost all of us have either paid bribes or have taken it..discrimination every where..the entire roads are filled with holes, dowry deaths, female infanticides, divorce, suicides, drugs, criminals,
white collar theifs, the number of scams is always increasing..swiss account holders holding trillions of dollars reside here..what exactly is this Great Indian culture helping us..I am still curious..high time we really know what is this great Indian culture..

Verghese,
If you go in deep then you will find out that this is mainly happened due to accepting someone's culture which is glamorous but not fit for this land.

Reading this I feel sad For Kolkata where practically a handful of amature musicians and enthusiasts are keeping its tradition of western classical music alive. Young people here hardly receive exposure to any classical music. Hardly any parents send their children to music schools at all, which was the tradition even a few decades back.

Indian classicals[Carnatic and Hindustani] have terrific depth and is for meditative minds. Western Classical has it is own beauty and rhythm. I cannot stop wondering the fertile imagination of Mozart and the 7th symphony of Beethoven. Music has no barrier, that includes Africa percussion music. They ae collectively the inheritance of all humans wh has respect for Music.

Many international people who play Hindustani instruments do wear Kurta and Dhoti as per the traiditon. SO in western Music, Wear Good suits and Tuxedo. No big deal or swadeshi Gaurav in this. We must get over the defeatist mind set and be strong enough to embrace other cultures when it matters while being routed in our own cultural values.

Nothing wrong in embracing other culture, but not at the cost of our culture.

IF YOU REALLY VALUE YOUR CULTURE MOST, YOU WOULD HAVE NOT IMPORTED ANYTHING FROM OUTSIDE COUNTRIES, LIKE, MOBILES, TVS, COMPUTERS, CARS ETC. BUT IT IS NOT THE CASE. WE HAVE ALREADY LOST OUR CULTURE AND WE ARE GREEDY ABOUT MODERN TECHNIQUES AND LOOSING FAMILY LIFE. ALL FAMILIES ARE DIVIDED INTO SMALL PIECES ALREADY
