Why do we need to be worried at all
by subramani ganesan on Sep 02, 2009 02:21 PM  | Hide replies

my take to this view of B raman is why do we as a country need to be worried at all of what other countries views are. this is a problems with us. we need to do things for others to take notice and want to be aligned with us. we have a healthy democracy and economic growth in place with strong institutions and necessary ingredients to grow on our own. so why time and again we worry of what other coutries think and do. no body does anything for other without any self interest in return. so ho does it matter. are we so concious of these things that we get bogged down with it and not able to think beyond that??
Diplomacy has to be there but it should be at our own terms. What i admire about our stupid neighbour is it is able to get things at their own terms even though the methods adopted would be wrong means but bottom line is they are able to do it. whether it is help from china or making the western world to look at them they are able to achieve it. a small coutry of the size of one of out states and they are progressive in their thought towards the world. they keep you on your toes all the time. can we take a similar view and not the path and do things for the world to come to us rather than worrying what would happen.
time to grow.

I agree with Mr.Ganeshan. Why should we worry about others and how they feel about us. Look at China and for that matter Pak. They are not bothered about their face in world even with pakistan is sucked into a great black hole. The US inturn support them with all possible monies, although they are well informed of the possible final out come of their own aid.
I think india as a whole to concenterate on its own matters of defence, and development of infrastractue and food securitiy and simple blaiming on our destiny

Japan, India and China
by Fried Yakov on Sep 02, 2009 10:53 AM

Should be wary of the expansionist policies of China. These powers should band together and develop their defences and capabilities against the Chinese dragon. They should sign a mutual cooperation pact to help each other in case of disturbances caused by the Chinese monster

What regime change in Japan means for India
by raman govindan on Sep 02, 2009 09:37 AM

in the armed forces soldiers are trained to fight in rain, scorching sun, biting cold, in jungles, populated cities, deserts. a nation should be able to withstand changes in the political, economic, social upheavels and natural calamities like storm, earth quake, failure of mosoon, epidemics etc. and definitely india should not be very much perturbed changes in the leadership of Japan.

my suggestion is to accept Ian Lendl, the top tennis player of the 80s and 90s. His aim is beat his top ranking in form opponent on his off form days and the when the weather and audince root for his opponent.

What regime change in Japan means for India
by Peter Flextine on Sep 01, 2009 03:59 PM

A regime change is not going to cause much of a change to the hardworking Japanese. They realise the importance of work and they are highly patriotic. Japan is least corrupt and in no way comparable to India, if they are interested in nation building process we are in destroying it. Lets us look forward to the individual qualities of the Japanese people rather than its regime change. Lets work hard...lets build our nation.

Japan and India can be very useful to each other
by Grizzly on Sep 01, 2009 09:05 AM  | Hide replies

Japan sits on the Eastern most edge of Asia and India sits in the middle of South Asia. Both have unique strategic positions on Pacific and Indian oceans. Both the countries are economic giants. While Japan is on its way down, India is on its way up.

Japan has money and technology but hasnt got land area or large population. India has large population and land area but hasnt got a lot of money and latest technology. Do you see where we fit into each others neccesities?

If there is political wisdom on both sides, we can develop strategically important relationships for 21st century. If Japan wants to come out of 20th century mindset, we should welcome them.

After all, we have ancient ties with them.

Thought question?

What would you rather have: two nuclear bomb wiping out two cities OR 15% arab minority in your country.
The nuclear impact is instantaneous whereas the latter will slowly drain the life out or make life hell.

The position of India
by Ramesh Anand on Aug 31, 2009 08:55 PM  | Hide replies

India is what its leaders are.Very small countries like Iran can make the world bend forward because of its leaders. Our leaders reputation is such that people from even small country do not hesitate to beat, kill Indians. The world has seen as to how do we react when our citizens are killed in whole-sale in India,in Mumbai,Delhi,Jaipur,Ahmadabad etc.So when we lack confidence to react even against the terrorists out of some 'unknown fear',the Japan which once considered us an important players in Asea realised its mistake and therefore made us a 'one of the country'.Who will respect India when India sell to the world its poverty and not the achievements, when India boasts of foregin languages and not the Sanskrit, remembers Mother Teresa and not Swami Vivekanand or Arvindo Ghose or Dayanand Sarswati.,remembrs kuran and bible and not the only ancient but superb literature and philosophy of Veda, gita,or the worlds largest epic Maha Bharata.

you must be joking if you believe that the iranian leaders are capable of making other world leaders bend forward due to their own abilities. No one cares about Iran as it is being run by a madman with religious nutjobs who want to have a nuclear weapon to destroy israel and it is a worry for india too. And even if some leaders care about Iran it is bcoz of oil politics. If you can find large reserves of oil in india, the US,UK will dump saudi arabia and claim that India is it's best friend
