Stricter bail and puniotive measures for perjury
by Jai Babu on Aug 26, 2009 05:11 PM

Many witneses lie with impunity in court and retract their statements either for monetary gain or out of intimidation. The Sanjeev Nanda BMW case or the Profesor Sabarwhal cases or the Best Bakery cases are examples!!! We need to have iron clad strict laws on PERJURY (lying to the Court under oath)for hostile witnesses and very stringent BAIL conditions!! Only such harsh measures will improve the conviction rate and speedier trials

In India a corrupt person knows that our system of law and administration of justice is loaded in favour of the corrupt .It requires impossible substance of proof to nail the act of actual bribe taking or other such Larceny, with eye-witnesses.
These could be scrutinised by Defence -microscopesa nd shall leave them free at the end.Public Interest requires drastic reconstruction of dealing with these corrupt agents. No mercy be shown to theirso called criminal's Human Rights D. Goel

Corruption
by arungopal agarwal on Aug 26, 2009 04:50 PM

No doubt, slow justice is one of cause, but politicians and bureacrats are not afraid of taking bribes/corrupt practices because till it is proved they are safe and even can play with any enquiry. Latest is Butas case. Actually if prime facie, one is found guilty, responsibility of proving should be on individual.

We all are Corrupt from top to bottom
by Hemraj Verma on Aug 26, 2009 04:48 PM  | Hide replies

Till the time we don't seperate law makers from Law implementers the injustice would continue to be prevalent. It is our foolishness to expect a police officer and Judge to punish an MLA, MP of their relatives and known ones till the time the former is at the mercy of these uneducated, illiterate, characterless, selfcentred criminals. Whether it is their transfers, promotions, or any other favour, all these are in the hands of incapable, stupid, corrupt and worthless politicians like Mayawati, Lalu Yadav or for that matter every politicians by and large.

I am saying this with immense sadness and cynicism but the only way our system will improve is by culling this rotten system and political patronage!! Maybe someday, someone like Afzal Guru will really succeed in blowing up parliament!!

Our windbag PM makes statements like rooting out corruption and we are sure that he has no intention of standing by it. What did this puppet Manmohan Singh do when a minister from his cabinet tried to threaten a Madras High cour judgeor for that matter when a minister in his cabinet- TR Baalu tried to use the PMO to allot gas to his sons or when Raaja merily turned the telecom spectrum sale to his advantage or when a Shibu Soren or Lalu Yadav were his cabinet colleague for so many years??? This PM takes no action againt corruption!! Remember how the CBI cases against Quattrochi or even Maya or Mulayam were bungled or the trust vote was won by even soliciting support from convicted criminal MPs?? The entire system is corupted right up to the top!! God save our country!!!

The only way out of this tangle is to have special trial courts for caeses where amount is over Rs.one crore. The hearing should be completed in 3 months & judgment for such cases can be challenged only in tribunal headed by a bench of 2 high court judges or SC in case of matter pertaining to centre.

Vote wisely irrespective of caste, cred, community! Dont indulge in petty corruption at your own level e.g. bribing a policeman for a traffic ofense or bribing a TC for a train berth or accpting sweets from your suppliers, etc!! Charity begins at home!! Moreover the Criminal Justice system neds a complete overhaul and our judiciary sems singularly incapable of reforming itself!!
