CAN PEOPLE BOYCOTT SMUGGLED CHINESE GOODS?
by Sadhan Pande on Aug 10, 2009 07:59 PM

If they can it will help a national cause !
Without a national feeling whoever wants India's sovreignity is a wild goose chase!
With selfish anti national attitudes what is education that one can boast of?

Chinese Strategy!
by Ram Sharma on Aug 10, 2009 05:56 PM

To lull the adversary into complacency and then strike is a time tested Chinese strategy.

The Chinese have been stoking insurgent fires in the North East and have managed to hem in India with their Naval bases in Burma and Lanka.

Chinese intentions are clear: Take advantage of a weak govt bogged down with naxals, maoists, Valley insurgents and Tamil dissent and attack India .

Hence, Mr. Raman, the signal from China is NOT mixed, it is very clear: That of impending danger!

Question of border talks doesn't arise with China
by Suresh Kumar on Aug 10, 2009 05:46 PM  | Hide replies

Chinese had illegally occupied Aksai Chin, a 38,000-square-kilometre territory of Kashmir in 1962. And now they are laying their hands on Arunachal Pradesh. Who gave the Chinese the right to call the 90,000-square-kilometre area of Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet. We should not hold any talks with China until they return Aksai Chin back to us. If we allow such wrong intensions of China to prevail, then slowly they will start claiming all north-eastern states as Chinese province. Instead of holding border talks with them, International community should be made aware of such discourteous acts of China by boycotting them at international summits.

well if really they had a good intention of solving this situation the politicians should sit down and realistically think if arunachal pradesh has any significance. It is a harsh desert area which the chinese claim and only a road route linking tibet. India should take the greener part of arunachal pradesh and give the desert to chinese which is what they want.
Solve it and get along with development instead of needless tussles every year.

If it is only a desert area which the Chinese need, then I would suggest that let them give 90,000-square-kilometre area of Tibet to India, so that we can have our own route connecting Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh via Tibet. This would also help Dalai Lama to live peacefully in their home town. What is your opinion mike.

China won't sacrifice its sovereignty in exchange for friendship
by Snehangshu Bagchi on Aug 10, 2009 04:00 PM  | Hide replies

China do not recognize McMahon Line. As they call it illegally drawn by the British. At one `midnight' people of India will hear that for the sake of `Hindi-Chini Bhai-Bhai' we have given Arunachal to Chaina.
But we will honour the 1947-partition of India done by the British as we love to remain good to all East - West - North - South.

McMohan Line indeed is illegal. Even we, Indians, didn't recognize it until later in the 30's. I would say we should take care of the well beings of many of our poorer citizens, instead of inheriting the imperialistic British legacy to legitimize the illegal McMohan Line. Do you know the British government finally announced that Tibet had always been part of China last October and thus renounced the legitimacy of the McMohan Line she signed with the local Tibetans?

Death of Pacifism
by Very Far on Aug 10, 2009 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

The carrot and stick strategy of China is a time tested technique to extract concessions from the adversary.
In all recent diplomatic sell outs by MMS, India has only given and received nothing.
Gandhi's other cheek policy did not stop the 1962 humiliation and more is on the way if the UPA continues to work in the dismemberment mode.
Pacifism only whets the appetite of the bullies.
