... all the time. when there's no better news to give or when there's money exchanging hands to publish certain news, then these things get published. Otherwie, many things that happen are not published.
Just like the west was supporting terrorism and opened their eyes recently, they should realize the difference between Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. They should not be clubbed as British Asians, for obvious reasons.

on the contrary, they should differentiate between indian muslims and indian hindus. these m are a shame. they really let us down. it is humiliating to have crazy muslim terrorists as a part of india and be called indians by foreign press.

Racism is rampant in police forces of European and Western nations. When the servants of law and order commit these crimes, where can you go? Muslim or not, putting the war on apartheid on back-burner is a terrible mistake.
i m indian, living in UK for last 2 years. and to be honest i feel that we asian use our color more than our talent in foreign countries. if we cant get what we deserve, we try to cover our inability to do that work by "racial discrimination" tag. i feel it, thats y m writing it, sometimes there are actual cases of racial discrimation, but half of the total racial cases are fake...beleive me i dont kno the motive behinf this police issue, but it needs to be investigated

Yes. This hinding behind quotas, reservation, cover ups on the inability as discrimination is prevelent even in India. The point is, we accept this in India, and keep giving quota. But a society that is based on performance does not encourage all this. Off course, there is nepotisim, favoritism, racism, but I totally agree with you that most cases are fake.

Hmmm... it seems that because of voicing such opinions you are able to survive in UK today. Carry on, we would rather not have slave mentality like you among us here in India.

Hardly any Indian doctor in NGS complains of racism and discrimination. This is not to say that they are not present. But, with sincere and hard work, they can be overcome. Now, the British can not live without Indian doctors.
There are many Pakistani eateries in Britian that are called 'Caffe India' or Indian food joint. Very rarely Pakistani names are used. In a way, right perhaps, because they used to be Indians. Still a bit funny, considering that some of them dislike India.

if it is called "paki eatery" or "caffe pak", ppl might suspect it as terrorist camps...so they name it as "caffe India"..got it..
I have seen that some references are made to Muslim religion and to Pakistan. Nothing has to do with this issue that has been faced by Tarique Ghaffur. He is clearly the victim of racial abuse and his story has appeared in newspaper 4-5 months back. He is the human first and then everything else. I am Hindu, staying in London. The commissioner is due to retire and he is the ost potential candidate to take up the prestigous offer. He has been denied due to his religion and he opted for the security of 2012 Olympics. He was not also given the same and want him to retire first before Ian Blair retires. The issue has started when the successor of Ian Blair was to be determined.

Hardik - don't pay head to any of the crap that your post will attract. I know what you mean. This is blatant racism and Ian Blair will succeed in picking a gora for a successor. This should have been AC Ghaffur's promotion. It is a sad day for South Asians in UK and beyond.

I agree with Hardik and BobbyM. Racism is an ever-present truth in UK today, and what makes it even more interesting is that this racism is actually rooted in FEAR, knowing that we Indians have much more potential to achieve great things. They accuse us of being like the fabled "cockroaches in a jar", but here they are proving themselves to be even worse so.

You illiterate, dim-witted morons have no idea about the back ground of this issue and just feel its your birth right to dish out your crap on the basis of a limited, biased, and out-of-context coverage by Rediff.
