BAGHDAD: Twin suicide bombings near Shiite mosques in Baghdad on Thursday killed at least 16 people as worshippers celebrated Eid al-Fitr, the festival marking the end of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, officials said.
Another six people were shot dead in an ambush in a restive city north of the capital, they said.
Security officials said a suicide bomber blew himself up in Jadida, a Shiite district of southern Baghdad, killing 12 people and wounding 30.
In the second attack, a bomber slammed his explosives-filled car into an Iraqi military armoured vehicle at a checkpoint near a mosque in the nearby neighbourhood of Zafaraniyah, the officials said.

On Wednesday, four people were killed and 15 wounded in a car bomb attack at a mosque in Balad, north of Baghdad, as devotees gathered for prayers, the US military said.
The bomb exploded in the car park of the Sayid Mohammed mosque in Balad in the Sunni province of Salaheddin, the military said, adding that there was no damage to the mosque.
The latest wave of attacks came as the majority of Shiites in Iraq celebrated Eid, a day after Sunni Muslims began to mark the end of Ramadan.

You can find many hindus working in Arab country and the US. In US these hindus are killed at will. Why dont they come back and show they are true patriot.
Anyway why are you so upset on police being jailed for misdeed. Havnt heard of Aarushi's murder case, Jessica lal case where they messed up and three different agencies for three different state gave three different stories of accused.
Supreme court has to throw away their findings. Why you have so sympathy with police? Are you one of the bribe takers or ill treater of poor as done by police.

terrorism is going to stay so long as there is vocal and local support. Even if all muslims do not support the jehadis, it is amply clear that those who oppose are too few and their contribution is close to null. The P-secular parties have been successful in disintegrating the Hindu society. And we are paying the price for that.

Today, two people are already dead in Agartala and over 20 critically injured. Before that there were people dead at Ahmedabad, Delhi, Malegaon and other places.
Rediff will not have the courage to say that "No navratra" at these homes or for that matter Durga puja. Those dead in Agartala were bengalis.
But rediff is quick to catch up where there is id. I dont know how much longer shall a few Indians among us continue to be bootlickers. We have expertised in this art for a few Dhirams or should I say Riyals.

Shravan Shuddha Dwitiya Kolkata : A Hindu man who married a Muslim girl was beheaded after a kangaroo court ordered his 'execution' at a village in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The villagers did not allow the man's hapless wife to approach the police for a fortnight.
The police said today that the girl Munera Bibi from Lakshanpur village met and fell in love with Shailendra Prasad from Bihar while she was working as a maid servant in Mumbai. They got married two and half years ago and the girl is now the mother of a 10-month-old child.
Religion was never a problem for the couple until she came to her own village in the district on July 1 with her husband who concealed his religious identity under the name Munna Sheikh. But soon the girl's father Ansaria Sheikh became suspicious of his son-in-law's religion on July 14 and reported this to village elders. A 'salishi' (kangaroo court) comprising 22 members summoned Prasad and discovered his true religious identity. He was awarded 'death sentence', sources said.
On July 17 the man's beheaded body was found in a gunny bag in a jute field but as there was no complaint, the police failed to identify the person, the sources said. Ten days later, the girl, her mother and brother went to Behrampore police station and lodged a formal complaint after which the incident came to light. The police said three perons have been arrested in this connection.
"We tried to go to the police but the villagers forced us to stay indoors and threatened us with the same fate if we go to the police." the girl said.
The father of the girl and many other villagers are absconding.
