California fires
by Sheetal Kaur on Nov 18, 2008 07:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

LET ME TRY POSTING AGAIN
Very unfortunate situation.
Then forest fires are a common phenomena in USA. CANADA and AUSTRALIA.
While lots of people loose their homes and livlyhood. lives change for ever so does landscapes.
There is not much that can be done to prevent these fires, where and when one is goning to start is any body's guess.
USA, CANADA,AUSTRALIA which all get these forest fires regularly their governments have very good plans and equipment to fight these fires.
Small pockets of dry as bone forest catch fire where this pocket is going to occur is impossible to detect.
These pockets catch fire through natural process and can raze 100s of acres of lush forest to ashes within few days.
helicopters those can suck a complete Olympic size swimming pool dry within seconds and spray on fire are just one of the means to extinguish the fire.
Bulldozing in the path of fire is the other method but with intense heat work is always slow.
Any thing and evry thing in the path is burnt down to cinders, peoples lives change landscapes change for ever,
While i have all the sympathy with those who have lost their house built by sheer hard work
There is not much can be done to prevent such natural disaster.
Then who has ever fought a war with nature and won.
I feel very sorry for all those who loose their lively hood every summer.
There is no preventative solution

We are sorry for them. But for once they must also learn to behave responsibly. Just because they are minority does not mean they can bulldoze the majority & expect them to face everything with glee.

In india people burn others houses on one pretext or the other and get no compensation. Atleast in USA it is just a natural calamity and the citizens are well insured, so one should not bother much about it

are you out of your mind, why would you make a comment like this, atleast we don;t attack other hapless nations the way you do. US must have burnt, destroyed maximum houses in the world be it vietnam, iraq, afghanistan, Japan.. so you don;t bother about it and concentrate on your bankrupt nation where so many homes have been destroyed by layoffs, and we will take care of our nation

Mr. Thoughtful indian,
Wat makes u think that every1 who stays back in india r corrupt & lazy and every NRI is honest and hard-working ??? India is not made of Laloo or Mulyam only, it is also made ppl like APJA Kalam and many faceless ISRO, BARC scientists, hard working common men. Just bcoz some1 has settled in USA does not make him or her superior human being. Also staying bk in india is not a mark of inferiority

To roadster.
your comments were uncalled for, shows your (im)maturity of thinking. Agreed US is far ahead in economy, has great military power and good infrastructure. Let me give you some facts which may through some light on position of US as a global leader and its sustanance.
a. Most economies are largely affected by oil trade, which is dealt in dollars, which keeps demand for dollars.(this can change when there are suitable alternative currencies e. euro, YEN, Yuan, Rs).This is not long, given the fact that middle east and SE countries are thinking of common currencies. This may drastically affect global demand for dollars there by, reducing its credibility and value.
b. US out sourced its jobs else where because of several reasons.cost benefits, lack of trained personnel, and low availabiltiy of skilled (educated)US citizens. So if you think of it care fully, those days are not far, it will be india sneezing with US getting the cold.
b. US has a budget deficit of 800$ per year. It is a credit driven economy. Compared to western counter parts which may go into recession, asian economies, including india have been predicted to continue their growth albiet at a bit lower level.
I could go on. But, yes, my friend, India has guts to challenge. Probably in just few years it may just do it.
