I would like to make two comments. Firstly, the maoists held discussions with the other major parties, and in the constituent assembly vote conducted today, only 4 out of the 560 who voted, supported the notion for retaining monarchy.
Secondly, why should the Hindus in Nepal worry about the new federal structure. Nepal is still a Hindu-majority country. The majority of the Maoist cadres themselves are Hindus. The majority of the important intellectuals in Nepal are Hindus. The Nepali Hindus knew perfectly well what they were doing when they voted to maoists into power.
Indians should stop worry about the plight of Nepali Hindus. They are perfectly fine. Nepali Hindus are liberal but still deeply commited to their faith. They know it is best to move forward without an incompetent and callous hereditary institution. Only a tiny group of fundamentalists and ancient regime stooges still support monarchy. The rest of Nepalis look forward to a new future.
It is shocking that Maoists with only 220 seats in the 600 member Parliament can can their shots.
I am not worried about end of monarchy but this power hungry Prachanda has aquired powers with which he will crush Hindu traders being instigated by our FRIENDS KARAT AND YETCHURY.
What about the 380 members can they not resist the supremmacy of the Maoists?
Maoists are going to alter the History and geography of Nepal.
We need to support the anti-maoist groups and reduce their clout.
It is not end of Monarchy but there is grave threat for end of Hindus here.

Which version of Hinduism says that the King is an avatar of Vishnu, this is the same murderer, whose is neck deep into murdering his kin for power. Just by calling BS as hinduism, does not make it one, it is good that such idiotic versions of religion are bought to an end.
