I am proud of being an Indian for which Arvind Hospital and its Management get the credit.

Kudos!! Most importantly - they never go pleading for funds.

will corporate Hospitals take a leaf from this
by Senthil Kumar on May 29, 2008 12:46 PM

Will corp hospitals like Apollo and fortis and Wockhardt ever attempt things like this. Even a fraction of the efforst which aravind has put will go a long way in providing basic health care to deprived masses. An eg of what private intitiative can do if the govt does not meddle with it

Congratulations
by Anirban Dasgupta on May 29, 2008 12:45 PM

I would like to congratulate the Aravind Eye Care for getting this prestigious award. I hope the hospital spreads to other parts of the country and provide its medical facility to millions of other poor and the needy patients. I would also like to thank Bill Gates for creating such an award. It is a pity that though people like Mukesh and Anil Ambani are now one of the richest in the world but they never think of contributing towards the society. If only they could realise that the joy of giving is much more than the joy of taking.

Gates Award to Arvind Eye Hospital
by ravindra avsare on May 29, 2008 12:41 PM

Such kind of social work done by some people comes to the knowledge of general public only when they are appreciated by international foundations. Other affluent businessmen from the country must take note.

Congrats to Arvind Hospital, pls keep it up.

A tribute to Mr.Veknataswamy who was inspired by Sri Aurobindo
by Madurai Sundaresan SatheeshKumar on May 29, 2008 12:39 PM  | Hide replies

From a humble beginning in Madurai, the Aravind hospital has grown and has been set up in many places like Coimbatore, Salem,Tiruvarur (which is a interior part of tamilnadu)

And they provide good eye care & service mainly for Cataract surgery (personally my mother underwent an operation recently and they had taken good care for an affordable price)

Also i could see many poor people getting quality treatment...

Our Best wishes for the Aravind Eye care team!

Hi vinod
Okay. it may be in erode, though i am not sure...
heard someone in the hospital saying that.
But its there in Tiruvarur, which is quite a backward district in tamilnadu.
