read history first and then talk. In 1979, China destroyed Vietnam's boundary defence facilities completely, totally destroyed Vietnam's boundary defence divisions, proved how fake the military ally treaty between USSR and Vietnam and then Chinese army withdrew voluntarily. China achieved its strategic goal. It's like China destroyed India's so-called "forward policy" in 1962 and then withdrew voluntarily. The world opened their mouth to watch China's clean and successful movement. Mao said China's purpose is to keep peace between China and India and let India dares not launch another so-called "forward policy" within at least 30 years. The history has proved Mao is 100% right. $0 years has passed. India dares not do anything again near boundary between China and India.

This is the Chinese official propaganda - to give the impression that you are allowed to DISSENT AND EXPRESS YOUR INDIVIDUAL OPINION in China. If you see the language of the text - it talks about reconciliation between Tibetans and the Chinese - under the rule of China. This is another way of saying - Good Bye Tibetans - Forget Independence and what happened in the 1950s - You are part of China.

If you TRULY CRITICISE THE COUNTRY'S RULERS IN CHINA - and speak against the Nation, you will be in prison.

This is FAKE public opinion.

Salute the intellectuals...
by Demo-crazy on Mar 24, 2008 01:57 PM  | Hide replies

These men have shown real courage to speak their mind to show that there are people with humanitarian views in China and that it is not just a heartless communist machine.

The Chinese adminitration, and their army, are ruthless in suppressing any anti-establishment voice. They have shown their zeal in gobbling foreign territory and because of their nuclear power status, no one can dare to stand up to them. The situation is more serious when you combine their economic muscle which they flex to make any country sing to their tune, however immoral may be their position.

A majority of Chinese public are being treated as slave by the Communist machinery. This is nothing but dictatorship on a grand scale.

I hope these authors are not harmed by the Chinese government. The international community must increase pressure on Chinese rulers to be sensitive to human rights, and change their way of dealing with other nations, and its own people.

india needs communist(proletarian) dictatorship...democracy is not practical in a country like india

The Congress as well as BJP are Bibhishanas who are ready to sell the nation to the most virtuous (read the one who gives you the best kickbacks).

That is why they buy billions of dollars worth weapons from US defence organizations when 1.5 lakh farmers go for suicide in a decade; forget the education and health care standards of the poor.

Nobody can deny the problems of global warming, but the solution shouldn't be submission to the colonial masters and butchering our independent foreign policy. There is a difference between signing an international treaty like NPT and signing Hyde Act which pegs us to the legislation made in USA. It reminds of the days of 19th century when even matchsticks and salt were imported from the West. Today our farmers are forced to buy seeds of GM crops at an exorbitant high cost. But the media hardly covers these issues; they are more busy covering film actresses modeling for exotic jewelry.

It is USA which divided Kosovo out of Serbia, now fiddling with China's Tibet and won't lose an opportunity to fiddle in Kashmir and Assam again. The USA talks sweet about freedom and democracy, but their interests in Kosovo or Kurdistan or Kashmir are selfish. Freedom movement from their perspective means guns for the terrorists as well as the governments, it means good business for Western arms dealers. They are the Al Fayda.

if you like to trace back, any country in this world can be divided into many "independent country". Most countries in the world include different nationals with distinct cultures and languages. So, citizens in a country needs not have the same culture and language. The key is international pact. If international community recognize Tibet is a independent country, then it is. If not, then it is not an independent country. The reality is now all countries including recognize Tibet is a part of China. If you find new evedence that says India did not and does not recognize Tibet is a part of China, please tell me.

Indian Communists support Chinese Govt's brutal acts
by Uttamkumar Samanta on Mar 24, 2008 07:30 AM  | Hide replies

Indian Communists support Chinese Govt's brutal acts.
They are so far silent on the brutal act of Chinese Govt.
If this kind of things happened anywhere in the world particularly against Muslim, they would disrupt
Parliament to release Indian Govt stance on the matter and urgent letter.
Indian Communists term all those chinese intellectuals as foreign agents.
Indian Communists all the time go against Indian National interest.
They merely use "communists term" but their act and activities are/were never like communists,
rather are like dictactor, and killer of human civilization and democracy.
They only kill their own people including farmers using state-power.

Spot on comments. The left will not "interfere" in Tibet as it is an internal matter. I do not know how can the Palestine issue be any different.

People need to defend themselves.

Tibet was unarmed and China occupied it.These intellectuals are a joke and matter less to the Chinese than a stray dog.

Tibet is done. Gone. Kaput. Unfortunately Tibet is now China.

India had Nehru, China had Mao. Do the math. Comparing Nehru to Mao is like comparing a rich lady's little barking lapdog(Nehru) with a large wolf(Mao).

Mao took Tibet and Aksai Chin - Nehru and his coterie like Krishna Menon sulked or yapped or sang "hindi chini bhai bhai".

That is all history now... Tibet is gone along with Aksai Chin. Nehru is gone too but India is left holding the bag.

BTW not that it matters but when China tried a similar stunt in Vietnam (after the Viets kicked out that murderous chinese puppets Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge in Cambodia), they got a bloody nose from Vietnam and never tried anything again.

Chinese understand only one language - might. Stand up to them and they will back down and be reasonable.
