Talks about women power but is herself nothing but a trophy wife. Talks about being a maharashtrian but she doesnt even know to read and write in her language. She is like most modern brahmans, loose moral characters and looks down upon her maharashtrian origins. She would have preferred to be born with parents of some other nationality.
Shobha De is an author with virtually no talent. Read 'Surviving men' to find out how untalented sher is. Some 1000 copies were printed and they managed to sell only 142 copies after spending 25 lakhs marketing it. Foolish exercise and a waste of money? No doubt but then why do you think Shobha married twice. Only to afford such indulgences.

i completely agree wid what this maverick said, why heck on earth people have so much prob wid shobhaa or any other woman who have defied social oppressions and done somethig gr8.. that lady says surving men sold very few copies.. buh is she known to the fact her books are a part og International study curriculum in India, US and UK under culture sytudies...??.. her books have been studied fr doctoral thesis.. what do u say boutcha dis anoushka.. dont always see the whacky but whiter side also.. Shobhaa is an achiever, much frm a journalist den an author and such a multi faceted, powerful n assertive woman who has re-sculpted d notion of woman entirely.. Long livee Shobhaa.. short live critics..!!!!

International study, thesis or whatever standards means very little if the literary substance an avid reader seeks is missing. She is a non-reader's delight mostly. Her potential as a writer is undertapped for commercial viability which is kind of sad. Her books do not really appeal to my sensibilities, no lasting effect, no after thought, no realization dawns and if all these aspects are untouched, it is the writer's failure
