USA's benefits r more from the agreement
by Ram Sharma on Mar 22, 2008 04:34 PM

It does not matter, if NDA was ready or not ready to sign the deal.

USA will benefit more from the treaty then India. USA's nuclear power companies will get lot of lucrative orders from India, if this deal is signed. That is the reason USA is pressurising India again and again to sign the agreement. It is also shamelessly trying to interfere in our internal affairs by saying that even if the India govt becomes a minority govt, it can sign the agreement. So USA does not care for democratic traditions. Everyone knows, it wants democracy only in its own country. It wants dictatorship in other countries, so that it can rule over these countries from behind the scene.

We should sign the agreement, if the agreement mentions that USA's internal Hide act will not b applicable on the agreement. Otherwise, we should devote our research on using Thorium for power production, as we have large deposit of thorium.

PM %u2018Strobing%u2019 Talbott%u2019s Lie To The Nation%u2019s Peril
by Chakravarthy Muralidhar on Mar 20, 2008 12:05 PM  | Hide replies

Strobe Talbott%u2019s statement is a blatant lie. Anyone who has read both Talbott's and Jaswant Singh's books would definitely see the lie outright. The talks initiated then by the NDA govt were purely one of trying to understand each other and create an environment of mutual trust. After decades of complete mis-understanding and mistrust,Vajpayee and his cabinet felt that a process of dialogue was necessary for both the democratic nations to understand each other's mental make-up and the thinking process. In fact, until the talks progressed more than half-way, most US policymakers did not know even very basic facts about India. For instance, most Americans in US govt%u2019s strategic think-tank did not know that India has never been an aggressor in 5000 years of recorded history! This was a revelation to Talbott too, as confessed in his own book!! Such were the basic and rudimentary nature of talks that the NDA govt initiated with the mistrustful and out of sync American govt then, as Talbott himself elaborates in his book.Yet now he has the gall to make totally false claims and statements about those very talks. But that only shows to what extent the US politicians and policymakers are patriotic to their country.Talbott, despite being a functionary in the then Democrat govt, totally supports the present Republican govt%u2019s efforts to halt and dismantle India%u2019s nuke program, even if it requires making false and fraudulent statements!!That kind of unity can be least expecte

Continuation.......

That kind of unity can be least expected of Indian politicians, as proved by Mr. Manmohan Singh. Our PM unashamedly, instead of calling Talbott's bluff, used that entirely false and fraudulent statement of a lying foreign functionary to show a former govt and its interlocutor in poor light. This shows the cheap and unsound mentality of the present UPA govt orchestrated by the Congress. What can we say other than that the PM is %u2018strobing%u2019 Talbott's lie to the nation%u2019s peril?

Another shameful thing is that when I sent the above letter to all the English language newspapers for publishing in their Letters to Editor column, none of them had the courtesy (or should I say guts?) to publish the truth despite it being known to informed circles among the public.

India was completely united, and free of all vices including violence, bonded labour, casteism, house-wifing and prostitution 3500 years ago, that is, during the time when original Indians lived in India, the Indus Valley civilisation.

Absolutely right Manjula,
3500 years back...All the peoples in the region of India were very well connected through roads, canals, and fastest transportation and IT system. People then used wireless networking to know who is cooking what and where in the jungle they can find prey. The different tribes used Internet dating to meet each other like a guy from kaniya kumari met online a girl from the jungles of Himaliya....those were the good times.,..
Alaas...i wish if someone could make time machine and we could go back then...

I agree that technology was not there and the Indus Valley people, far from the modern things you are mentioning, hadn't even discovered Gold, but it is true that they lived in peace and were free from all the vices brought by the European guys called Aryans.

I want people to know that Cholas (Indian Tamil Kings) were aggressive and defeated Malaysians and Indonesians. Mostly Tamils (Cholas) initially went to these countries as aggressors and later in 18th and 19th as indentured labourers of the European masters.

The Ramayana and Mahabharatha thus became a good part of the culture of especially Indonesians

So Aggression is not always bad or good. Yes it is unfortunate that North India bore the brunt of Afghan,Mughal(MONGOL)and Iranian Agression.

What is your point, author?
by K K on Mar 20, 2008 10:19 AM

What Jaswant Singh said was that the current deal was a result of the initial NSSP that was laid out by the NDA. Even Manmohan Singh said the same thing! It was on that basis that the nuclear deal has evolved. The details of the agreement was never discusses during NDA time since it was at a very early stage.

So what exactly is the issue the author is trying to make? Seems like he has a lack of understanding how agreements evolve in phases or maybe he has been paid by Sonia to create issue where there is none.
