It is a cover up - again by politicians
by G S on Mar 17, 2008 10:43 PM

These are the real trash of the society. They know how to mislead people. Common man is not at all valued.
Why drug is so rampant in Goa? Why is this status of state. Why a criminal incident leads to revealing of this truth.? Because their is some income to all these people from huge monetary gains that these drugs result.

Even if she is a criminal she deserves her children to be safe

If she is a criminal she should be put in jail.
It is a shame politicians from our country are making arguments like this. First give her the justice she demands. Tourist centres across india should be opened up for Indian public. I have seen that any foriegn trash is acceptable while an Indian guy is denied the same facilities even if he is willing to pay the same price. This is just to cover up the criminal activities run under the cover of tourism . This is not just the government.Even local health clinics now 'prefer' foreigners to locals.Have some self respect dudes. All facilities should be completely made open to the local population and they should be given preference.India can survive without foriegn tourism , but many criminals can't. I can't understand why no one is demanding this.

Right on, mate!

India, particularly Goa, is fast becoming like Thailand and Spain, a magnet for junk tourism. Wherever there is drugs, sex, and alcohol involved in abundance, there is bound to be homicide, rape and other crimes. More European tourists get killed in Thailand than in nay other tourist destination - just a couple of days ago, a Swedish tourist in Thailand beach was found dead. The is the unfortunate downside of developing these 'hippie' havens that tend to attract predominantly the unwanted, lower class tourists, instead of regular tourists who go to another country to experience a new culture and heritage, and see the sights, attract anti-social elements.

In fact, in Thailand, much of the murder of western tourists is commited by other western tourists, and most often involves drugs, alcohol and prostitution.

I agree that the police in Goa have no business to try and stupidly cover up the case. If they had been ''smarter,'' they would have just done what the police in the West often do: when there is a crime against non-whites - the police tend to be subtly indifferent, and pretend to work on the case while doing nothing about it. The chunk of the cases of murder of Indian students in the US have never been solved; many deaths have been declared as suicides, when they most probably weren't. Unfortunately, these Indian parents were all in India and unable to personally push the police to do their jobs properly and investigate the case. Unfortunatel

con't

Unfortunately, no other Indian in the US was willing to help them to follow up on the case. The result is, the case is considered closed within six months, and the file put into the trash bin. If the Goan government is not willing to clean up the beaches, and are going to allow Goa to go the way of Thailand and Spain, well at least take tips from the police in many western countries, and learn how to look efficient while sleeping on the job.

what non-sense....why r they trying to cover up a horrible crime by raising unrelated issues about the past of the mother trying to get justice for her daughters rape and murder. what difference it makes to what criminals did if fiona had good or bad past, if she lives on benefits or earns.....
there r rapes and misconduct happening in goa and all over country everyday...its poor law and security conditions and these beaurocrats and politicians will not improve their plight but blame a mother victim of their poor regulations and lawless states

Sunaina, The girl was 15 and her mother left her with a young man and She was taking drugs till 4am. Most of the foreign tourists trade drugs with sex and this case is not like other indian crimes on innocent woman. The Goa situation is different. Once the govt should completely stops the drug trafficking then these kind of incidents will stop but the govt will not do it. if the drugs are stopped then the foreign tourists flow will decrease.
