It more than confirms that Indians are sexually desperate people who are willing to rape even minors.
No more Gandhi or Ram/Krishna and Allah.
Indians lack culture and their dirty country stinks of urine and shit as much as the people who are double faced. Shame on Indians

Mr Indian, crime happens everywhere in the world. It is not the culture that is bad, it is the Law and Order that is bad.It is not a shame on Indians,it is a shame on the Police who couldn't stop from incidents like this to happen.Indian culture doesnt allow a 16 year old to drink and party till 3 AM.Yes people are double faced in India for a reason. It is the culture. We are not open on anything.Even to our own family. As Earth becomes more adaptive,we will learn as any other culture.

Can you change your parents? Obviously no. Similarly one can't change his country. If you are so ashamed of to be an Indian or of your Indian roots, kindly first change your name, secondly kindly don't visit any Indian site including this board.

@ Mr. Gupta
Such incidents happen every where in the world....and believe me, they happen more frequently in West.

The gals mother should have been more careful, this was bound to happen to her some day or the other as she was on drugs, booze and hanging out with total strangers.

Having said that, the police and authorities cann't escape their duty. They should always try to uphold the law and it is no seceret that corruption levels in police dept are at an all time high.

Despite bad press, Britons say Goa is still a great place
by Nirpinder Singh on Mar 14, 2008 01:17 PM  | Hide replies

It would be nice if tourists would spare a thought for the natives. In all civilized nations people are taught to care for their fellow person and to respect nature and the environment. If Indian tourists were to visit Europe I am sure that any misbehaviour i.e. lack of compliance with local laws on their part would not be tolerated. What makes foreign tourists think that breaking the law in India is OK? Surely they are aware that taking drugs and behaving in a rowdy way in public is against the law in India. If they do not then the Indian Government should make an effort to inform them at all places where tourists congregate by distributing pamphlets. After discharging its responsibilities the Indian Government can start prosecuting foreign tourists that break the law. The complicity in crime goes to the very top at the administrative level. Are we really that desperate for tourists that we are willing to tolerate all types of behaviour putting our own culture and children at risk?

The state government cannot absolve itself of its share of responsibility in the death of British tourist Scarlette. It is a well known fact that the beaches of Goa are the hub of international drug mafia. Drug trafficking involving foreign tourists has been going on there with the full knowledge and support of the state police and local politicians. All cops are on the payroll of the drug peddlers. If U visit Goa U can get it on any of the luxury yachts and will wonder what the law makers/protectors are doing ? The Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Home Ministry and the state governments have to devise methods by which the tourists are protected.

Its not the death of one tourist, but the events that took place after her death which are alarming.....The corruption levels in police dept are reaching an alarming level and citizens can no longer expect any sort of co-operating or help from them.

I think a high level supervision of police department is required.

a society that can not live by norms prescribed by it is bound to perish scarlrts death or murder is only a small part .Why is it that in our country the police man and the politician are always found wanting onlw because they have more power to misuse. i strongly recommend that in the case of all govt servents we should prescribe only capital punishment for even the most simple offence.

Goa is India's jewel in the Crown
by Dilli Chalo on Mar 14, 2008 12:51 PM  | Hide replies

Only one stray incident cannot change Goa's image. Human life is precious. Death of teenager Scarlett Keeling is no doubt pathetic but at the end of the day who is going to take care of my life ? Myself offcourse. What she was doing in the midnight in the cafe ? Why her mother was not present with her?
But the truth should come out. Goa will remain a dream land for every Indian.

Goa is more safe to Tourist then Indians
by krishna kumar on Mar 14, 2008 12:48 PM  | Hide replies

Well I have been recently to Goa, the experience is a mix of serene beauty and worst treatment. If anyone want to feel how it is been racially abused, then an Indian(stag/Single) should go to goa. I was shocked by differential treatment one get from locals, it is really sad.
I don%u2019t know if it is because of Money, or our own behavior, but we Indian should really look at it.
Goa is a beautiful place, let face it you get drugs there, I don%u2019t know as long as u have buyers how one can stop the sellers. If tourist flocks to Goa only for these then I as an Indian seriously question do we need them%u2026%u2026 Are Indian worst then any tourist. Y are we treated differently?????? And there is such a big issue of tourist are they safe....

What is the single most common reason that a Indian(stag/Single) goes to visit Goa for: cheap booze and ogling at half naked foreigners.

Why do you think the locals should respect you?

goa is one of the worst place I hv ever visited during one of my official trip weekend. only half nude foreigners, prostitutes, drug addicts and worst goan locals. no Indian family man should visit goa. All these hue and cry for a drug addict teenager who actually should be behind bar is only for our droller/pound greedy govt.
