This is not a national budget - it's just a poll budget! Though Mr Bidwai is normally way left of left field in his rantings, for once, one is forced to agree with his thinking on many aspects this budget, especially pertaining to the farmers. The subsistence farmer is still left out in the cold - still at the mercy the criminal money-lenders who're free to charge any interest he pleases, knowing full well that these poor sods have nowhere else to turn. The co-op banks and PSU banks are there only for the well-heeled and well-connected (read filthy netas and babus).

This card carrying leftist ironically makes his money from publishing his half informed half baked articles in the press in the Middle East (Gulf News, Khaleej Times etc.). Wonder if he pays tax at 70% (if at all) on the income he received from these sources! Dont know where he manufactures the information on 70% tax rate or more (in Japan and other countries) from?
He probably delights at the prospect of Indians remaining poor, living in huts and with no access to power, healthcare, water, sanitation, education etc. Does he realise that if the guy paying the bill (taxpayer) refuses to turn-up (earn), who will benefit. He and his comrades have opposed every sensible reform action in India over the past 17 years!
