Its nothing to do with police - why we blame police
by Namrata Modi on Mar 14, 2008 05:32 AM  | Hide replies

How in this world a 15 year girl was allowed to go in that time alone in such a place by her mother. Why she had consumed alcohol when in her own country first she in no way can buy alcohol and then if she buys and is caught both the seller and she will be locked up and fined.
What Indian police will do??? Drugs and alcohol is so common. I understand the girl is no more but should we blame our country or should we first blame English culture. I believe its English culture. Come to UK and see condition of this country. drinking till they fall is fashion and kids grow up in drugs, alcohol and smoke here.
We should not blame our system at least our kids are not free to do the way their kids are. I am not being racist but being very frank.
I have been watching this story for long and will blame only parents of the girl first and then the people who committed crime.

Ok.... the girl and her guardians acted irresponsibly. Does that deserve a rape and murder conviction by an Indian guy ? Awesome Namrata....tussi great ho.

By the way if you so hate the British culture, why are you still in the UK ? God forbid tomorrow if something goes wrong with you or ur family,do you think it shud be justified by the British media - when India is booming, why was Namrata in Britain ? Therefore she deserved what she got ?

Dear Namrata, is sad that a woman cannot understand another. You sit in ur home in UK and point fingers at the mother. It is safe to stay out in UK late in the night not like India which is very unsafe for girls. Don't mix things-culture and rape are completely different and culprits in this case should be severely punished. Don't defend the wrong thing. Also Faceless Indian, hats off to u. Nice thought!

What if the girl sneaked out?Did you ever think of that? 15 Years do that.Taking the advantage of the situation and committing crime can only be done by Criminals. You wouldn't steal a car just because it is unlocked, would you?

by Pradip Parekh on Mar 14, 2008 03:43 AM  | Hide replies

goa should be returned back to portugese. clearly, the goans do not know how to manage their affairs. this murder of a young girl is beyond comprehension. what kind of demons these men have to be. goa must be shut down immdly until decency can be verifiably restored.

Responsibility of witnesses
by UsualSuspect on Mar 14, 2008 12:11 AM  | Hide replies

Just curious as to why the witnesses didn't inform police when they says the girl in a drugged state incapable of even standing on her own ?

I think a lot of such issues could be avoided if the common man takes up a little responsibility. In such cases, it's better to be paranoid than not, and inform police or any nearby authorities.

there is this whole perception that goa is all about booze, drugs, music, sex, trance etc...it is not at all like that..90 % of goa is like every other state in India..there are colleges, schools, people from different walks of life..in fact its one of the better states in india for the same..unfortunately our media chooses to highlight all that is negative abt the state..i m not condoning scarlett's murder in any way..its a sad thing which needs to be severely dealt with..but i believe that my state has been stereotyped and its the tourists both local and foreign who come here to goa expecting all that I have mentioned earlier..if u come searching for trouble , u r bound to find it..as far as cheating by goans go, i can vouch for the fact that true goan sons would never do such a thing and in fact they would go out of their way to help..

No body would have believed the reporting person if any one did it would have been days before any action would have materialized from lazy good for nothing police officers.
beside the person reporting would have been held for interrogation and beaten red blue for no reason at all.
That is one reason no one reports any thing to the police because of unnecessary police bullying.
