Minister should concentrate on increasing quality and reach of healthcare. Free public healthcare is MOSTLY availed by persons who dont take Wills cigarette but beedi, deshi daru not Kingfisher Beer and certainly prefer to add sprite and not some expensive soda when drinking an occasional foreign liquor. What is the Health Ministry doing about it?
Let me tell you what Health Ministry is doing about it:
- Trying to prove that SRK is the reason for all this because he smokes.
So does crores of other Indians.
- Trying to prove that because Vijay Mallya as a criminal because he's providing world-class domestic travel experience to Indins under the brand-name: "King Fisher".
- Dr.Ramdass is busy settling personal feuds with Dr.Venugopal - director of AIIMS.
One humble request to Dr.Ramdass - why don't you take up this issue and have the species of King Fishers renamed to something like "Fishers". Afterall, without its knowledge, the bird Kingfisher is also trying to promote the "Beer" brand.
Because we pay our taxes, we manufacturers, must either be allowed to advertise what we make and distribute for sale or we should not have been given a license to manufacture or sell such supposed-to be-surrogate brands in the first place.
There is no point in 'whipping' advertising for the crimes commited by succeeding governments.
Kingfisher mineral water is a genuine product.
So is Kingfisher Airlines.
Or is it also a surrogate brand of Kingfisher Beer ?
Why does Anbumani Ramadoss not ask Priyaranjan Dasmunsi to take action against Kingfisher Airlines ?
Why did Civil Aviation Ministry give them permission to operate an airline, in the first place ?
Why did the Trade Mark Authorities not object to register Kingfisher Airlines ?
All makers of genuine goods and services must be allowed to advertise their wares -- this is afterall free country. Don't we have Freedom of Commercial Speech too ?
If you don't like it, Anbumani Ramadoss and Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, just leave the country.
Or, while you are still in power, change the laws of the land (just-like-a-Taliban) but make sure that no one can manufacture, distribute or sell (nor advertise) any surrogate brand, including -- in all fainess -- Kingfisher Airlines.
PLEASE STOP this nonsensical 'whipping' of advertising for the crimes commited in the past by your own corrupt government officers.
While these measures are good, what is the quality of public health system in India? Dear Ambumani Ramadoss, if you are an able administrator bring about a good public health system rather than coming up with crazy ideas that make good public news in the media. Ofcourse tobacco is bad but arent our governement hospitals worse? in our native place in karnataka, in the government hospital ( which has more than 50 acres of land) autopsy is done in open field!!! Moreover, the hospital premises is a breeding ground for mosquitos and many illegal activities. If you have any capability change such things rather than coming up with petty ideas that wouldnt change anything anyway.
All these Ban and restrictions just do not work.Make people conscious about their health and give them the right to chose.If somebody wants to drink or smoke he himself is accountable. Let's not be preachy and that too from these stupid politicians who just seek publicity and nothing else.

Surrogate means a person doing the work of another person. just like you have surrogate mothers carrying babies of others.
