Field Marshall Manekshaw
by Sundar Venkat on Jun 28, 2008 09:10 AM

A great warrior by physique and by brain and heart. A personality hailed from a Soldier to Field Marshall. Role Model for many uniformed and non-uniformed citizens of India.

Bharath Matha has really lost her First Warrior Son who really fought for Indian Soil, unlike the present days personnel. Our Hreat Honour to Field Marshal Manekshaw always.

How Should We Honor Our Heroes?
by Satya Banerji on Jun 28, 2008 07:32 AM

The 1971 war was also a success of the India-USSR military alliance. The Gnat was a key element in battles on our western front. The United States, which is those days, sided with Pakistan, neither supported their ally with aircraft spares, nor persuaded India to lift the blockade of the Bay of Bengal by INS Vikrant. Our Field Marshal once said that Pakistan would have won had he chosen Pakistan during Partition. Indira Gandhi Ji was a defining element in Maneckshaw's success. He could not have ensured the surrender of our enemy of the day with a vacillating Prime Minister at the helm. Finally, no tribute to the Field Marshal will be complete without a comparison of today's Defense Minsiter with the late Babu Jagjivan Ram. The phenomenon of Admiral Nanda and his reckless family is a symbol of the quagmire in to which we have descended since the haycon days of 1971.

'We felt honoured while saluting him'?
by Pat Thakur on Jun 27, 2008 08:00 PM

Balls! Don't eve think of honouring yourself by trying to sneak alongside Sam Manekshaw. Nobody can compare himself to this Lion. It is not everyday that such Lions are born.
We are all rats & will stay that way forever. Saala, ek aam aadmi tumhari sadi aur soyi hui vyavastha par mootkar, machhar marne jitni aasani se uski dhajjiya udakar, padosi dushman desh mein aaram se "Naagrik" ban baithata hai, unki mehman nawazi ka lutfa uthata hai. Aur hum? Sirf "Aatankwadi, aatankwadi" chillane ke alawa uska kuchh bhi nahin ukhad sakte, is se jyaada sharam se doob marne wali baat aur kya ho sakti hai?

O Rama, it's not the President's fault really. Since she has been brought up on the bones & juicy morsels thrown by them, for her, India is only the Gandhis' & Nehru's. mybe when tomorrow one of the Gandhi's is blown off, she light come out of her Ivory Tower (Rashtrapati Bhavan) to plzace a wreath.
Any other Indian dies, who cares?

LALIT ANAND
Sam Manekshaw Quick Witted and very Popular Personality
by LALIT ANAND on Jun 27, 2008 04:46 PM

Sam Manekshaw in his normal dressing up used to wear a side cap which according to Army traditions is usually worn with the dinner Jacket. When he started wearing it perhaps very few would remember. He was identified by his side cap all over.

Once General Sam Manekshaw was visiting a command Headquarters. During the visit he observed a comparatively junior officer also wearing his side cap which of course was not an authorised part of dress. Sam walked up to him and whispered to him saying "Young man, in this side cap, you are looking smart alright, but Sam Manekshaw is the only person in the Army who can wear it and get away with it, not you." The young officer immediately removed the side cap at the quick witted remark.

As topical as your request may seem friend, let us all know one thing - he has been already conferred a Field Marshall which is the Highest Possible Rank in the Indian Army (& he is the only recipient of this honour till date.)
WHEN HE HAS SUCH A UNIQUE HONOUR TO HIS NAME, WHY DEGRADE HIM WITH AN AWARD THAT HAS BECOME SO CHEAP SO AS TO BE RELATED MORE & MORE WITH NONSENSE/ JOKES/ CONTROVERSY?

The respect, admiration and love of the masses for this great son..the recognition for his service is much much higher than any medals or awards...do you think he needs that..I beleive he does not require a Statue even..for he would live in the heart of many to come
