What Patil says does not appear to be the real reason as his being sidelined could not be ,by any stretch of reasonable logic,linked with his choice for abstaining.If he wanted to express his resentment to the party,he could have silently resigned for the membership of the party,participated in the voting and cast his vote according to the dictate of his conscience as independent.There is some thing than what sounds to the ear and what meets with the eye.He appeared to have feared danger to his life in case of making his intentions known to the press or public.
