indians areperennially locked living in the world of Harsh facts and Make beliefs
by D goel on Feb 29, 2008 04:29 PM  | Hide replies

Pkl. afternoon, 4.15pm, Friday, 29th Feb. 20008
the nemesis of indian psyche is that it is neither entirely hardheaded modernist , nor as yet, fully liberated of the engulfing multiple mythopoetic hangups of our very diverse ethnic beliefs and folk-lores.
We have not learnt ,how to draw a strict disjunction in the demands of harsh post -colonial as well as post industrial society's crass materialistic obligations on the one hand , and our penchant for day-dreaming with lingering nostalgia of our undying fascination for grand narratives of our proliferous Epics like Ramayan or more recent gloroius tales of Great Guptas , Mauryas , Raj RajaRajendra Chol or Kalingas , Marhattas, Sikhs or Rajputs of more recent history.
We ought to develop a critical and mature sensibility to live in the present without entirely forgetting the atavistic nostalgia of a great civilization that has stayed unfortunately,in disrepair for last several aeons!
We must imaginatively hold rapport with those great values but, these cannot be allowed to interfere with the working of our own secular business of living in XXI century commercial and industrial civilization lest we becoming once again the Proverbial Indian Yogis who could not but go down to Marauders in our long past enslavements because of their penchant to hitch their minds and Souls to the Infinite Spirit.
Let us harmonise eternity with hard nitty gritty of historical duties...D. Goel

DMK and its grand plan
by vox populi on Feb 29, 2008 04:29 PM

casting aside the feelings of lakhs of hindus the DMk is hell bent on going ahead with the project--what one can surmise is a s follows--huge amounts of money will change hands, taking into consideration all activity, this will also boost their atheist laenings and give a fillip to their anti hindu/anti brahmin tirade--so they will get support of weaker sections and minorities and last but not the least they will have their favourite LTTE playing footsie in their own backyard.

i dont know whats DMK's problem
by Nithin Kurien on Feb 29, 2008 04:05 PM  | Hide replies

this project has become a matter of pride of DMK and minister os shipping is almost single-handedly going ahead.
why cant a matter of faith be respected? its a matter of heirtage too.

no action that hurts someone's justified religious sentiments shud be taken.

If we destroy objects of faith, what will mankind rely upon?

as it is, the project's economic side is not said to be that great. Why is the DMK so arrogantly pushing ahead!
