LETTER TO PAKI DAWN NEWSPAPER EDITOR TODAY.

The British Council and the British Alumni Association of Pakistan held a seminar on Feb 23 on %u201Cchildren%u2019s right; are we doing enough?%u201D

The keynote speaker and the 6 panelists expressed their views which were followed by a question and answer session for over one hour. Members of the audience asked many questions but most disturbing and heart rending was asked by an old Sindhi Hindu lawyer.

He said that that underage Hindu girls, as young as 12, were being kidnapped, forced to marry and convert to Islam. Parents%u2019 attempt to file an FIR against the culprits is not registered by the police, they take no action against the criminal, the girl is never recovered, the parents suffer life-long pain, and NGOs take no action while the media ignores it. The complaint was confirmed by the fact that the news report in the following day%u2019s newspapers on the seminar did not even mention this point.

He wanted to know why was it so? Is not kidnapping, irrespective of the faith and ethnic background of the victim, a crime under the laws of Pakistan? Are such heinous acts not un-Islamic, and immoral? Why does the state behave like a helpless bystander and why do human right organizations in Pakistan maintain a deafening silence? Do they not know what pain and humiliation it causes to the parents, particularly to the mother whose little girl is taken away forcefully and never allowed to meet her again?

RE:Talking to terrorists like talking to India!

Well said! Already Pak is in the game of equating India and terrorists. Unless Pakistan's hatred of India stops, there cannot be any progress for Pakistani people, no matter the amount of US help.

Pakistan was crated by greedy ,stubborn power hungry, converted to islam ,Jinnah so there is nothing new in Pak all of their leaders greedy, power hungry and US always took advantage of situation. If you look at Pak's 60 years of history, they had done nothing but fought wars with their neighbor(which pak lost badly), wasted People's money, diverted their attention to creat hatred toward non muslims. So I would say Pak is the center of all of terrorists activities and soon US will have to send their troops to capture terrorists from Pak,otherwise their leaders always play games like Mush, blackmailing US every time they come to US and got loads of money to fight terrorism

what is wrong with you?
The development and democracy in Pakistan is in India's favor in that it can reduce its spending on defenses and focus on development of its people. Ofcourse, it will be a solution for all the terror attacks in India being plotted by various terrorist factions operating out of Pakistan. Does it make sense to you?? Don't talk like a terrorist. Get some sense into your brain - get educated.

Your obssvations make thorough sense Mr. Samit. Now that the leaders of the 2 major parties of that country have realised the futility of confrontaion with India, one should hope that there indeed will be peace and friendship with India.

Mr. Raj does not know history well. Jinnah was never greedy and he never wanted Pakistan to be based on narrow religeous ideology. In fact he wanted Pakistan to be as much secular as India is till this date. Those political observers and journalists who have actually contacted Mr. Jinnah are unanimous about this fact.It is only after his demise that the country annd its so caalled leadrs became wayward thus paving way for the General to usurp power.
