123, the whale of a Deal- But for America only!
by Chakravarthy Muralidhar on Feb 25, 2008 03:37 PM  | Hide replies

The very fact that Bush and his henchmen are anxiously biting their nails for India to sign the deal shows it is America and America alone which will benefit out of the deal. It is a deal which will make way for a lot of American businesses -all those who sponsor and financially supported Bush- to earn billions of dollars of business for many years to come.Besides, it is a deal which will strike at the very root of India's independent and impregnable nuke research establishment. It will unravel, entrap and myre the Indian nuke infrastructure into turmoil and ultimately leading to its decay and collapse. Look at how the IT and BPO sectors have, without even the US strategic think tank trying, led to the collapse of the Indian defence research establishments to come to a grinding halt with many hi-tech research labs almost wound up due to complete loss of all the scientific staff. With nuke establishment this did not happen due to various factors. So the US strategists, along with Bush's business buddies thought up this 123 deal which would bring Indian nuke industry into the international mainstream.Once 123 is signed by India, all of europe, US,Canada,Australia, etc.,will no more place Indian nuke scientists and engineers on Visa embargo. They will be smoothly ensnared out of India with plush jobs with the aim of wrecking the BARC's human resources which alone is the reason for India's nuke success and leadership. The 123 Agreement is a whale of a Deal- but for US alone!!

It is a travesty of truth for Talbott to say that " if India does not sign the 123 Deal, it would be like putting a bullet in the Gift Horse's head". The truth is that India should, with alertness and scepticism, thoroughly examine and investigate this "Gift Horse", lest it turns out to be the 'Gift Horse of Troy'!!

Indo-US nuclear deal
by murli nair on Feb 25, 2008 03:09 PM

India and the US should sit down and iron out the remaining doubts in people's mind (of both countries)and wrap up the nuclear deal. Simple logic says India, US and the UK should be a team in world affairs. All three are democratic, reasonably free of prejudices and in varying degrees have family values.

Last day of sale
by Manali Thomas on Feb 25, 2008 02:55 PM  | Hide replies

This is like sales personnel saying 'today is the last day of sale'. US wants to keep India on tinterhooks and tell the Americans that ' see the super power of east, has bowed to our wish'. India should not yield to such pressure tatics. Let Bush go away another Obama or Clinton can also ink the agreement, after our careful reading and change of government. No need to hurry. It is not that US can only save the world as they are showing in movies and doing in practice. In Iraq, they made Brits and other Europeans say of ' mass destruction equipment kept by Saddam Hussain' and that beautiful country is becoming the mass grave of poor people because of American greed and powerful propanganda.Osama's trail made them to use Pakistan as their base. Pondered Afghanistan and killed them as they wish. Still no Osama. Now Cuba, Iran, North Korea are the targets. For that they want another ally in the east. Pakistanis taught a lesson to US and threw Mush out. Now they are not sure of their control in Afghanisatan. Both Nawas and Zardari will oppose their presence, unless they play another trick of making Zardari accountable for the money he stacked away in Dubai and Swiss accounts. India should not yield to this ' last day sale' tatic.

I am sure you dont know the real essence of the deal. They havent given a clear picture to the public about the deal. And hence we dont have an option whether to support or oppose. We are just a spectator.
