Population Factor
by Sai Vemu on Feb 22, 2008 09:03 AM

What the author forgot to mention is the Population Factor , the population in all the three regions mentioned is much higher than the western average , As such it's natural the numbers will be high vis-a-vis the western numbers. If you take the spread based on Percentage model or per 1000 ppl model , we may see the figures will be pretty even across.
Ebola is not existent in India , SARS is more or less contained in India , HIV is a problem but if you see other diseases they are pretty much in control. I feel sick when this western media with their perverted mind often takes this kind of cheap pot shots on the third world countries.

This article is a meaningless and the most useless one.
We Indians are imune to all diseases. We are strong people. There is nothing to worry.

Who told you that? We are highly susceptible to coronary diseases....Indians have traditionally had thinner arteries than Americans...Our tropical weather is a good breeding ground for all sorts of pathogens...

hygiene and cleanliness, malnutrition - the main problem
by Ayan Roy on Feb 21, 2008 08:11 PM  | Hide replies

Forget AIDS, sex and morality. The root causes for spurt in diseases in India are:
1. Lack of cleanliness and pollution - How can one remain healthy in the face of a daily barrage of dirt, dust, smoke, garbage, dirty water, fungus, flies, mosquitoes, contaminated food, open urinals, sewers? We have to keep our surroundings, air, water, and food clean! That will reduce most of the germs and microorganisms entering the body.
2. Personal hygiene and habits - Many poor and illiterate people do not have basic personal hygiene and sanitary habits. Thus, they invite many diseases. Keeping oneself clean, washing hands with soap, bath, wearing fresh clean clothes, keeping nails trimmed and clean, not picking nose and ears, not scratching, keeping one's genitals and anus clean, etc. are very important. All these do not require a lot of money. Just education and common sense.
3. Malnutrition and fatty food - The poor people suffer from anemia and poor immunity because they cannot get enough good, nutrient rich food. The rich people on the other hands, suffer from obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension etc. due to fatty, oily, fried rich foods, alcohol, smoking etc. We must ensure that poor people, especially children in their growing years, get good nutritious diet to build up body mass, immunity and rich blood. Also, healthy eating must be encouraged in general to avoid all the problems due to overeating junk food. Indians generally have very poor food habits.

Why forcing languages is wrong?
------------------------------
Suppose an IT professional with kids works in Bangalore for 2

years. You will force the kid to learn Kannada. Next the IT

person changes job and moves to Hyderabad for next 3 years,

then you will force his kid to learn Telgu. Then he moves to

Mumbai and Calcutta, so you will force the kid to learn Marathi

and Bengali. When he moves to Delhi and Tamil Nadu next you

expect him to learn Hindi and Tamil. This whole idea is a joke.

How dare does anyone torture a poor kid? If people love their

respective languages, they should go ahead and teach those

languages to their OWN kids. How dare they force this on

OTHER'S kids? This sounds like facism to me.

Bribey and corruption takes place with willingness of both parties. Should it be legal by your logic?

Common, it is basic. If something is not good for the well being of society, it should be banned. Legal prostitution only will help india going in Thailand way. More HIV, sex tourism, femal trafficking, child prostitution, broken families.

its a simple fact...understand.. i stay in saudi arabia where getting drugs inside the country will give me a death sentence but believe it or 30% policeman take drugs... 60% youngster have consumed drugs... inspite of death sentence u can see the graph.. now consider netherlands where drugs are legal even coffee shops sell marijuana... while selling they know the quantity how much they have to sell to an individual and trust me nobody is now interested more into drugs in that part of the world.. as it is easily available... france has banned drugs and there was a party between some youngsters.... they got ecstasy illegally and consumed on higher proportion as it was not available easily... next day they were found death... i m juss givin an example which i know... i still believe if u bann everything then nothing is going to change... but if u atleast legalise then things can be kept in check... anyways drugs in india shud never legalised as that will create havoc... but prostitution can be legalised atleast in metro cities... u have heard of kamathipura in mumbai... prostitution is happening there...nobody is even takin actions

Stupidity. Our country is norway or netherlands. If you cant control prostitutes when it is illegal, how will you make sure that all of them are registred? This will make life easier for paeodopholes and child abusers. Thiland is the best example what free sex can do to a thid world country.
