I have lived in Delhi and I have seen lot of abuse and assault in Delhi. I don't think we were ever aware that we need to report case to police knowing that we might get into trouble if we go to police. Indian Police and judicial system is very corrupt and any indian girl who has traveled in public transport would tell you that. Some states used to be different like Kolkata, not sure how it is now.
I am amazed at the logic of people on this board. The rapists/murderers in Goa were Indian citizens. How can anyone defend them by saying things like - tourists commit crimes too, its western culture, etc. When Pakistani terrorists attack India we blame Pakistan. If our own citizens commit such grave crimes, it is excused? I think the fault lies with our culture. If men are taught to respect women at school level this will definitely reduce. It should be the whole society's responsibility to ensure safety and security of women, be they tourists or Indians. We laugh and blame Islamic countries for their treatment of women. I can tell you with confidence that we are not much better. If we are planning to be a superpower and boasting about it, the status and emancipation of women is the first step.

I feel that many guys feel if a woman is on the beach or another place scantily dressed, she is inviting sex. This is not true and it is important for people to respect the right of another person to say no. Show of power physical or economic or otherwise needs limits. What is required is for Indians to learn to respect other people as they would their own wishes. Treat other people as they would treat themselves. It is a culture that it is OK to taunt a girl or abuse etc. The lack of any action further perpetuates it. If people knew there would be consequences thay wouln't do it! The Indian laws with regard to women also needs to change.
Destroyed by the Portughese its culture, language and relegion. They made these places a brothel for the phedophiles and drug addicts from west. Thank God British are more gentlemen than these portughese thugs. India is India so the British owe a big thank you.

Portuguese didnt make Goa a haven for paedophiles and drug addicts. It was done by the Goans themselves due a the warped tourism policy.
It is already well known that Pak is terror country. Why play same ranting on same old stories and fool Indian public specially when we are not able to control our own known problems of traitors.
1) In India one can get a passport from offices for 20k Rs bribe. 1000s of fake passports to illegal foreigners (from Burma, Pak, Srilanka,Bangladesh) have been issued.
2) Army personals would let any truck or consignment get in border for exchange of 1 lakh Rs.
3) Custom officers on any airport/border will let smuggler's goods in for few thousand Rs.Immigration officers also cooperate.
4) Police in India is well known rotten lot ( almost 98%) who would sell us for anything from 1000 Rs & above. 100s of Mumbai police are indirectly working for Dawood else how would he run his empire.
5) Politicians R known for killing us for votes& swiss accounts.
6) Any authorities eg. customs, excise, income-tax, RTO, MTO, police would do anything for their pocket .(see recent income tax comm.in bombay)
7) Army and police are openly involved in looting & raping innocent people on border states.They r the one who forcibly create terrorist for country at our cost.
When America did not face any attack after 9/11 then how India has multiple attacks, it is coz our traitors from govt offices and politicians,who make noise & hysteria for few days to fool public just to show they r working. but in reality we r killed by our own gundas.

I think afzal guru case is complex - as his death will lead to some other innocent indians imprisoned in Pak to die. While the analysis is correct. America is safe - because the threat is not from "within". If you have to compare - compare Indias situation - with Israel or sri lanka or Russia(Chechnya) and see how they can minimize/prevent attacks.

Do U recall the episode to Dubai airport wherein Prasad Bidapa was arrested in Dubai on charges of possessing narcotic substances Our congress ministers in Karnataka helped him to come back without any punishment?? Just go aroung Kodai Lake or Kodaikanal International School U can meet innumerous drug peddlers and can get any stuff. So where is the Law and order in this country??
