The very reason why we are all suffering from various problems is within ourselves. We just don't care to control our population explosion.
Don't keep telling we are a country of 1 billion. That was 8 years back. Now we are a country on 1.15 billion. We add approx 2 crores every year due to our negligence.
There are certain things that we could follow. 1. One-child policy (at the most 2) 2. There should be a rule that women can give birth only after 24 years. (and after 2 children, both the parents should undergo family planning operations. 3. If planning to have 2 children, space them out by at least 3 years. 4. If you are poor, stick to 1, and make sure you give everything to that 1 kid, instaed of having 4, and making them beg in future. 5. Please don't allow your religios and family sentiments, to affect family planning.
If these things can be implemented fully, then India's population in 2050 would just be around 125 crores ..whereas at the present rate its expected to touch 165 crores.
Well, its in our hands....we need to solve it. Most of the urban and educated people have realised this. The problem is in the villages, where people just dont have any such awareness.
If possible, please spread this message to others. and have some more laws incorporated.

TODAY: - pee-em is causing a terrible surge in prices, to deliberately move billions out of us, - into the hands of a few dozen men (some foreigners in the stock market, others wholesalers/hoarders):
- pee-em is deliberately forcing 450 million poor family members in our nation, to half-starve, leading to severe mal-nutrition, child-diseases, deaths by the thousands.
- hundreds of citizens are dying with each passing hour,
- center is creating havoc with food prices all over india,
- for over-priced IMPORTING of foodstuffs in lakhs of tonnes, for daily use by un-suspecting indians, which is fit solely for animals
do we go and live in the jungles? are people supposed to eat grass? dont we have a basic right to buy vegetables and fruits?
do you know the PRICES of BASIC FOOD TODAY?!
IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE, FOR MOST INDIANS, TO BUY GOOD VEGATABLES AND FRUITS.
IS NOT CENTER THUS RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSING MAL-NUTRITION ALL OVER OUR NATION.
IS NOT CENTER RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSING STARVATION DEATHS AMONG THE CRORES OF POOR INDIANS.

the amount of food n wealth in form of ornaments n lavish worship places which are wasted in da name of god darshans, if the same be used for those kids who really in need of nutrition i feel at least we can save some life's.
India is a poor country. Around 1.5 trillion dollars of money has been deposited in Swiss bank accounts by our businessmen, politicians, govt.officials and actors/actresses and cricketers. Alas the govt. has no money to feed the people.

They ( businessmen, politicians, govt.officials and actors/actresses, ngos ) get their money by pitching for the poor. Once there is no poverty, they are jobless. Thats why they keep them poor always.

Also what about vitamin B12 supplements for the poor as few people get to eat meat and dairy. Good nutrition is essential to build an educated and industrious nation.
It is a known truth that 60% of Indian children are under weight and go without basic food to sleep.
Some of Indian middle class lives in a fool's paradise and imagine that their country is a prosperous big apple. It is only rude shocks like Election 2004 that wake them up from such day dreams. What else do you expect when government says that those earning just $1 a day (Rs. 1500) are not poor !!
Poverty line must be fixed at at least $4 (Rs.6000) per family - then you will see 90% of Indian families are poor !! Logically so !!

Yes. You are quite correct. We have to improve a lot but the fact is that the moment you say malnutrition, the police will be sent after you and you will be threatened not to enter the tribal area. This is our approach towards malnutrition. Protein should be made available to these children because malnutrition is a word attached to proteins. Malnutrition quite often leads to disease risks and lower I.Q. which is again debatable issue.
Instead of the center focusing all the time on Pakistan- maybe we should let security departments deals with pakistan and let the government deal with erasing proverty in India. Poverty affects people both North and South. Security people are more capable of dealing with security that these idiots in Delhi. And Rediff should also diversify with other news as well- fed up about reading about secrity and pakistan- the current center is useless and will do nothing anyway- and the secrity department have their hand tied by useless bureaucrats to be really effective. Just some thoughts from somebody down South,

These are two dfferent issues. Poverty must be India's #1 concern.
Terror is also one important concern - it affects our cities mostly.
