blockade which cut off essential supplies and despatch of perishable fruit.

First of all there was no blockade. This I am not claiming, but the same minority-appeasing-congress-led-government.
And secondly, if you are a party to criminal activities, you have to suffer too.

It doesn't mention the land's return. And it compensates the Jammu residents for the economic losses caused by the agitation, but is silent on compensating the valley people who suffered from seven weeks of a blockade which cut off essential supplies and despatch of perishable fruit.

It was because of same injustice meted out to JAMMU for teh last 60 years, that the reaction happened in Jammu to the valley's militant action. And not due to cancellation of land. If cancellation of the land was the reall issue, then there would have been reactions whenever Hindus were killed in kashmir

The settlement is flawed. It reserves 100 acres of state land exclusively for the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board's use, thus barring sheep-grazers and other traditional users.

Can you tell me who are the traditional users, THE MILITANTS? Well we don't stop muslims coming to our towns and establishing business, do you feel that the governement (who offers so many sops to mulims like Haj pilgrimage, madrassa funding, muslim reservation in AP, Tamil nadu) will stop the sheep grazers from grading their sheep on the SASB land.

The People's Democratic Party called it 'unilateralist' and 'authoritarian'.

The PDP itself is pro-separatist- as shown from its call to 'March to Muzaffarabad'. So let it call the decision any names, we damn care for the views of a separtist organisation.

The Kashmir Coordination Committee, comprised of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, and motley groups of traders and professionals, said it fails to address the real issue, azadi, and called a general strike

If azadi was the real issue, why was there a flare up over the transfer of land to SASB, had they forgotten that these same Islamic separatists had failed to protect the Pandits when they where driven out from the valley

The real issue is Islamization of the valley

This is a BAD deal , let it fail.
by deride mender on Sep 04, 2008 12:41 AM

This is a good cop / bad cop game, by US
& proxy Europeans, US playing the role of Good cop, while proxy europeans play bad cop with a clear aim at de-nuking India. Switzerland said it destroyed AQ Khan & Europeans joint venture files to protect US intrests, and we are to fall for this junk. If i
they succeed in de-nuking India it will be a Georgia of
sorts, against China in future, begging for NATO
cover. That may be what west wants , India
to buy expensive protection. It will be a colossal mistake of the new century for a country of billion people strong India to give up nuclear weapons and submit to the goodwill and mercy of others, to dictate your defense. It will be stupid to sign
away nukes or ability to mantain them in
future. India has plenty of scientific brain to perfect and build thorium cycle reactors, to use for power generation.
India has second largest reserves of thorium in the world. India
needs to create a fully funded project even with whatever needed IITs involved to make this happen. Self
reliance not begging through unjust treaties like CTBT/ NPT/ FMCT is the answer.

Justice Not Done
by bravestar on Sep 01, 2008 12:49 PM

See how justice is done for the victims of Varanasi blast by the Congress Regime. Varanasi blast convicted was given 10 yrs punishment. See the Laws of this country. If POTA was there he would been hung. Congress is the culprit for all these things. That terrorist killed 70 people and gets only 10 years jail term. All with Congress regime. Please for God sake dont vote this govt in power again.

Strategic Relationship With The US
by Sam on Sep 01, 2008 12:48 PM

For India, a strategic relationship with the US, which encompasses a mutual defence treaty, defence equipment supply agreement, technology supply & upgradation agreement etc. is more important then only the nuclear deal. We need US, as much as they need us, to keep in check rougue states such as China, Pakistan etc.
