Before Neerja Chowdhury goes overboard and starts reading too much meaning in to the results she must accept that bypolls are bypolls and rarely ever reflect the reality of general elections ! What however needs to be noted is that Mayawati is a key factor in today's politics and will remain so for the next general elections . Mayawati must be credited for getting her arthematic right . SC Brahmin = winning . In taking the Brahim vote she pulled the rug from under both the Congress and the BJP. She also recognizes that Brahmins moved to her because of the manner in which the OBCs under Mulayum harrassed them over nearly a decade. But currently outside UP she has merely the ablity to damage the Congress ! She could take away the SC/ST vote away from the Congress and help BJP ! What is surprising is that BSP's normal ally should have been the Congress. Possibly Rahul Gandhi , in his hurry to establish himself in UP , callously rubbed he the wrong way.
That is the reason Chidambaram said Gujarat is the most developed state. If people will not get up from your sleep, these politicians will ruin our country for their pockets.

Let me give you another explationation. If Chidambaran said West Bengal was the most developed State he would have been given the 'KK Sahedevan Award for Morons' or if he said Kerala was the most developed state he would been sent to a lunatic asylum. She's ready to be bowled over by the 'impeccable' credentials of the latest dynastic claimant. What the world makes you beleive that the the only chice this nation has is between Advani and Mayawati?
The writer looks worried with growing popularity of Mayawati and that is why the writer wants other parties to form coalition against Mayawati. But no body can stop Mayawati from conquering the hearts and minds of vast majority of this country. She is the hope of future, a better tomorrow for India.

Does it start with leaders like Narendra Modi and Advani? The one killed the same people whom he was supposed to protect as his constitutional obligation and the other initiated a Rath Yatra which culminated into one of the worst riots in India. India is better off without such meritorius leaders.

for 60 years so called Merit was the sole croeria!What it did produced!Only corrupt bureucrats!and what India has achived in Technology!India can not produce even a Mobile indegenously completly !All engines of many high end cars are still imported!Even Mariti Suzuki still imports Gear Box!For the members information please note that India has been unable to produce good Sheets for Car !Now they say Bhushan Steel is trying to produce that!The Indian markets is flooded with Chinese products!Onlt trader community is happy as they only import and make profits!Just one Example: CFL Lamps were imported from China at very cheap rates !The trader lobby thought Innovation and asked Govt. to ban it or put Dumping duty on CFL lamps but also asked that KITS for CFL lamps be made to import freee!Now every Industry Ajanta ,Wipro ,Phillips ,Osram and hundreds of others are Importing full kits (In fact it is complete but invoice shows it a Kit) duty free and sell as their Brand at much higher costs!So ultimately you are getting Imported CFL lamps at higher cost though it is Chinese!Can any Industry wallah deny this!I challenge them !Now Indian Market is full with many brands which are only Chinese but with Indian Name!CFL-Compact Flourcent Lamp)!And where is the merit of so called Class!It is humbug!Let Mayawati and Shri KanshiRam's dream come true for uplift of real Indians !It should not get diluted by bourgeiose and Kulaks!Jai Bhim ,Jai Bharat!

True. She is the hope for a better India. It has been too long that some people have dominated the masses of India. Its time to break away from feudal system.
Mayawati is the better businesswoman than of a skilled politician. She know, how to sell Dalitisam and make money. May be after her 5 year rule, her name appear in the Billionare's list. India needs a 3 party system, Right, Left & Center. And the presence of regional, castiest parties will kill India's development. Why not vote for soem young netas this time.

Do not worry about Mayawati and her billions. We want to see Mayawati not only a billionaire but one of the richest person on the earth. A strong leader only can fight for us and get us justice from the centuries of hegemony of a few elite groups, also known as upper castes.

The fighting for social justice needs a strong leader. But the strength does not come through money. It comes through intellect and character. Mayawati lacks both. No doubt she is shrewed and as like any other normal polititian, wants to make a lot of money using her position. This has nothing to do with social justice. The biggest fighters for social justice in Maharashtra - Mr. Phule, Mr. Ambedkar, Mr. Karve, Mr. VR Shinde were not rich by any means and they did not need chief ministership to weild the influence on the minds of millions of Indians. Let us not glorify Mayavati. She is just another greedy and shrewed polititian. Appreciate her for her political acumen and that's it.

Mr. Joshi. You might praise Dr. Ambedkar in a public forum but we know what you speak about him in private. So no need to be diplomatic. Secondly Mayawati represents a more plural society. She has not sidelined the upper caste. But yes if you feel humiliated that a lower caste is going to rule the country then its your problem. Nobody can help you with that.

Joshi, You say that she wants to make a lot of money. So, what is the harm with that? Her enemies are so powerful (upper castes as a group) that they control almost all resources of this country and what ever wealth she accumulates will always remain insufficient. And remember, a leader like Mahatma Gandhi also needed help of money bags like Birla and Bajaj, while fighting a mighty British Empire.
