Exactly - I wonder why this insistance to make non-Marathis Maharashtrian.
Let the title be Punjabi girl or whatever. She is not from Mumbai. This is getting ridiculous. If a French parentage girl was born in Berlin would the Germans say she is German?
Punjab is as different from Maharashtra as France is from Germany.

its amazing how small minded you r.. no wonder india can neva unite together...cos of ppl lik u..who're still crying out going for one lil state...rather than looking at the big picture n accept the country as one n to answer that question...yes the girl would be german..n punjab is onli different cos u choose to make it in your lil head
Why do we end up with a lot of fairish skinned clones instead of real sharp Indian features and honest down to earth dark skins?
Who says these girls difficult to distinguish from the hundreds world over, are beautiful? What is the criteria used to judge? Not too dark skined, uniform features, same empty smiles and expressionless faces? No visible character or personality to show? Looks like it. Sad to say but the girls who flock to these competitions are really not Indians at all.

Actually any contest which subjective like judging beauty or bodybuilding is not a real contest.
Any contest in which dancers are judged by judges as to who is best is not really a contest but an opinion. For example see the Blackpool dance festival finals - everyone looks a certain way slightly different from each other. One couple wins.
One reason some events like ballroom dancing or these pageants do not make the Olympics is because of the reason that there is no way to say X is better than Y objectively. Even sports like gymnastics or diving are iffy because they depend on opinion rather than fact.
Compare this with a 100 meter race - one person is ahead, no questions we have a winner. Opinion has nothing to do with it.
Here opinion has everything to do with it. That is why it becomes political.
If there are any miss india/world frm maharashtra they have to be basically from north...kaur is from punjab and harshita saxena is a north indian kayastha...just like bachchan

They can all move themselves to the north...
We will keep our Madhuri and Urmila you keep your girls. You keep your singers, we have our Lata and Asha. You keep your Sehwag and Mohinder et al. We will keep our Gavaskar, Tendulkar et al.
You are North Indians, we are Maharashtrian. Let us keep our own. You yours, we ours.

Your own? As far I know Maharashtra is a part of India, since when did it separate from the Indian union? The very word "north" is relative. For people from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Maharashtra IS north India!

Listen Nadia - we are different. There is no similarity between a Bihari and a Tamil or between a Punjabi and a Maharashtrian EXCEPT looks.
It is like Germans, French, Italians, Spaniards. All are caucasians - but different language different cultures, different food, differnt martial history etc.
Same in India - Maharashtra is for Maharashtrians and Punjab for Punjabis etc(Bihar and UP is for God alone knows who!) just like Germany is for Germans and France for the French.
