Royal award!
by K on Oct 23, 2007 08:30 PM

"Based on the progress visualized for the nation during the next two decades, the power-generating capacity has to increase to 400,000 MW by the year 2030 from the current 130,000 MW in India".
I am eager to know more of this in detail. Power generators needed a total replacement then. But State Governments didn't had sufficient funds to buy any of them. I hope things must have improved over last 10 years.
Britian shows lots of generosity in presenting awards. Wonder if its equally generous to present its new technology to India(without having us buy it)
I am not jealous people! For me even a crumb of the piece of award is enough to instil arrogance in me!

Because British were dead against that, as all know British were much more influence than US that time.. still when ever there is a mention about peace, Gandhiji's name will be referenced first, I think that is more than any award..

Medal to Kalamji
by Mehul Dave on Oct 23, 2007 09:07 AM

Its a good honour from Britain. Looking at his scientific achievements and giving vision to country, he is fit for Bharat Ratna Award now. Secondly such people shoould also be given some working posts in Govt. so they can shape our policies and future. He is better than other useless / selfish / party minded politicians.

Indians neglected

Many times achievents of India has been suppressed and neglected. Mahtma Gandhi gave the real meaning to word 'peace'. But he was never given the Nobel Price, though he was nominated many times for it. Many people who are far smaller than him has recieved(Gorbhachov, former President of USSR).
Proably, Mahtma Gandhi was far bigger than this prize.

The philosphy of Mahatma Gandhi, particularly the power of truth & non violence, the diginity of labour, the economic distribution of wealth for balanced growth of the society was far above the intellectual level of the who and who of Nble prize.

The european / Americans can not recgnise a person of these virtues as the foundation of their policy is based on explotation and with modern weapon, threatening and ultimately war is their weapon.Economic exploitation by giving loans on one hand and by entering in deals to purchase the precious material at half the price or sell their products at double the price.

Do you expect that they can ever recognise Mahtma gandhi.

GANDHJI IS MUCH ABOVE noble laurates.

Do you know that people used to send post to Gandhi with just the outline of his shaved head and glasses!!!!!!

That too from abroad. He was that famous. He doesnt need any recognition, However what I crib is that they compare him eith nelson mandela, who is a materialistic person.

Keep Gandhi away from comparisons!

MAHATMA GANDHI was MAHATMA so He is above all recognition and medals. He is above all the people in last century.
India has been grateful to have MAHATMA GANDHI as our father of nation.
No one can be comparable to MAHATMA in true sense.

Congratulations to Dr. Kalam on this achievement, it is indeed fortunate that we have a personality like him in India. He will never stop learning and sharing his knowledge, I guess...and I pray he never does.
