Animal Viruses - New Global Threat
by Sudheer Bhalchandra Rukadikar on Oct 09, 2007 10:09 AM

War between humans and pathogens is going to continue. Humans may take upper hand for some period while pathogens will prove superior at some other time. In such a situation, it becomes imperative that we build up disease resistance in our body itself. So that prevalent infections can not take upper hand.

Dr S S Patil, PD_ADMAS, Bangalore
All animal disease viruses can be controlled by effective vaccination and proper hygienic measures, only thing is that all veterinarianss should cometogether to form a strategy and formulate control programmes. Only partying over a conference/symposium is not a solution for the problem. Its not late, atleast we should take up few diseases of viral origin and start eradication programmes. Ponder over it my colleaugues.

Its alarming and really a shame in this modern world of science that we cant even detect the virus, least to say about its medicine & prevention. We became a party to this as my uncle was infected by an unknown virus and is in a semiconscious state over last one month. He is now in AMRI, Dhakuria, Kolkata. We have tried with so many organisations for help, at least for trying to detect it. But got no hope.
See where we r even in this era of science. Concerted effort is needed to win over this.

unfortunately there is not proper animal disese diagnostic facilities in india,
animals are in the least priority for the govt.although this is a life line for the small or landless farmers .
govt. should taken a step like establish a central body for livestock, appoints skilled veterenian because a veterinarian can play a major role in this area like for zoonotic disease etc.
