Genocide in WB
by Y Singh on Nov 29, 2007 06:44 AM  | Hide replies

Definitely, it's a welcome issue that Prez Mush is a civilian today; in a democracy, the chief of state being the army chief is ridiculous and this can happen only in a few countries like Pakistan.

The way GWB has taken interest in this region, the genocide case in Nandigram in WB is overlooked by him and his country in the largest democracy in the world. Although this news is published in India Abroad, International Herald Tribune (as a minor note) that I have seen but unless it's reported in New York Times, it does not get enough attention. This information need be printed in LA Times, NY Times, the Guardian, The Times etc as well. May be the NRIs can do something about the comrades as the current UPA government is a puppet of them.

I understand your point but 1) USA does never like the idea of growth of communism at any part of the world (China is communist by name only, if you consider them) 2) it's a unipolar world. Even the people suffering in Myanmar are looking forward to US only and in fact, US only can do something for them. Nandigram farmers were helpless against the state sponsored barbaric act with the classic tacit support of the national government 3) As far as US interest is concerned, HUJI has become recently active in India. The semi-Chinese government in WB has a soft corner for Bangladeshis and they welcome them for votes to cross the border and live merrily in India. HUJI is a collaborator of JeM, or in a broader outlook - AQ. This is yet in its nuptial stage. If US act soon, bigger problems of the future might be averted and above all, US is still the supreme commander. If it takes a little interest in this region, this kind of genocide like atrocity could be halted from a moral point of view also.

Disgusting
by Samia Baig on Nov 29, 2007 06:21 AM

It is disgusting to see Bushy licking Mushy's backside, after being a self-proclaimed proponent of democracy. Not only has Mushy killed democracy in Paki, but his intentions in bringing his 'buddy' Osama to justice is also questionable.
