Rightly said...it is not question of arguing about something which we wont practive at home
If the artist have a problem with the so called moral brigade (some of their reactions too which i dont endorse) but then the so called artist too have a responcibility towards religion which they sem to use very lightly and choose to create images which bring them max media covarage there by enhancing their product value. I would not read too much if the artist choose all religious figures for depicting their art, but choose only the hindu gods in embarrassing figures ones they would probebly conduct in their bedrooms. Which is distasteful. So the artist too have to play it clean rather than use the brush to push all their dirt under the carpet.
Whether one is an "Artists" or some other elite being, all are bound by limits of decency, ethics and basic considerations for sentiments of the society.
In the name of "ART", one cannot and should not engage in defaming religions or hurt religious sentiments of people.
Every group has to operate within acceptable social boundaries.
It is not understood what is gained by indulging in such hurtful & indecent depictions in the name of "ART".
Violence need not necessarily be in physical sense only. The so-called artists are equally VIOLENT by such depictions. The seudo secularists are abetting them in the name of Freedom of Expression.
"Artistic Freedom" is a nonsense.Degrading Gods and symbol of religion has become a fashion.
Editorial Staff of Danish newspaper claimed that cartoons depicting prophet come under the category of freedom of expression.No. of Danish diplomats were sacked from many countries.
Our own Secular politicians and the brigade which earns its bread through secularism also condemned Danish Cartoons. Why the same principle is not applied when somebody i.e. artist deliberately degrades gods/symbol of other relegion. The time has come that we need a Universal Law to avoid these kind of incidents
Hinduism is tolerant so you can insult it as you please yeah? No wonder we have Modis everywhere. It is precisely this attitude that helped the growth of VHP - all the best!
Artists freedom does not mean hurting anybody's sentiments by drawing nude picture of god, godess of any religion. They should act responsibly.
Whatever the moral brigade did also cannot be justified. The action must be taken by government by warning them.
We respect their freedom of expression but not by hurting other's religious feelings.
The display of such art was always there from time immemorial in our indian hindu culture. You can see it from the sculptures on our old temples etc etc. These sculptures are again very indescent if we see from our moral brigade's eyes. If our moral brigade's start visiting ancient temples there will be no temple remaining in few months. (Have they ever seen the sculptures on Temple of Chhapri, Central India, Khajuraho)
The truth is probably with the time moving forward we are becoming more immatured or less tolerant.
The bottom line is our artist community should do there job responsibly by not creating some situation where it becomes a problem for them as well as others. At the same time people also should be taking the action legally if required.
If a artist does such things he must be punished and if any body attacks on them by not going legally also should be punished.
Every body must behave responsibly and keep moving peacefully and happy. There are many many more things to bother.
All secular parties, organisations and individuals must raise their voice against misuse of the police, judicial system and State machinery to "muzzle the freedom of expression through coercion and intimidation".
We should see the attack in the larger context. Such attacks that reflect personal intolerance and vendetta cannot be tolerated. We need to strengthen the bond of commonality,
The Vadodara outrage raises serious questions about the State's ability, or even desire, to protect the cultural freedom of individuals. We strongly condemn all attempts by communal forces to violate cultural freedom.

Sahdevan, just imagine if this so called artist had drawn the nude pictures of your wife or daughter or sisters in a very degrading manner. May be you are one of those people who do not care, but most people do. For religious people, the religious characters are equally important as their family memebers. The "artist's" or anybody's freedom should not infringe upon the personal sentiments of others. I am not religious, but I respect the religious sentiments of people. Leave them alone and find something else as the focus of your artistic attention. Note: The artist did not pick on Islam. Had he done so, he would be hiding in a cave by now.
If it was another state no one would have rasied a finger at govt stopping those trouble mongers...
And if a small picture in Punjab can cause trouble here they have crossed all limits.
I am unhappy with continuing abuse of hindus and hinduism in india by this media. I have never been a part of VHP / RSS / BJP etc. I just represent an educated professional.
How come that media is talking about artistic freedom but not about the abuse of general persons feeligs.
And why dont they dare draw such drawings of any other religion say for example islam?
