Bury our politicians in Bachcha Ghat
by vijairaghavan PG on May 18, 2007 03:47 PM

India has come to such a pass because of these foul, cheap, self-serving, money-pinching politicians to whom life and death do not matter - so long as they get their Z security and VVIP status and all the benefits that go with it. I am reminded of a very poignant dialogue from the film Gharonda, if I am not mistaken, where Amol Palekar's character says,"yahan aadmi ko izzat paane ke liye marna padta hai" (or something to that effect). Unfortunately, now things have come to such a pass that even after death the minimum of dignity is not available even to an infant which has probably never known hate, jealousy and illwill, which our politicians preach today. Shame on them. My only wish is that all the politicians of Delhi should be buried in the sewage at Baccha Ghat and no public land should be wasted on these scum.
My heart felt sympathies to the Choubeys and I pray for everlasting peace to the departed soul

Why blame only politicians?
by Nitin Tripathi on May 17, 2007 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

I offer my sincere condolences to the family.

But why everyone is blaming politicians only? Do you expect them to provide and take care of burial places?

Have you ever been to Muslim burial place or Christian graveyard? Look how organized they are. Are they maintained by local politicians? No. They are maintained by their community people and by the people of their religion. Has any Hindu religious leader done anything in this matter? No. They can fight for years for temple issue. They can put restriction on art. But they cannot simply look in these matters. And only we are to be blamed. We give heed to them in matters of their own choice.

Further, politicians are also responsible to some extent. The cast politics of our country could be blamed. What would be their reaction if this was the situation of some Muslim burial place or Christian graveyard? They would have gone to any extent for votes in the name of doing something for the Minority community.

So, do not blame only politicians. WE ourselves are the real culprits.

Sir,

It is indeed a sad state of afairs and it speaks of our careless attitude. Rivers are said to be the life or lifeline or whatever you call it. Great civilisations have flourished on the banks of rivers. Hindus worship rivers and mountains and all other natural forces.

Ganges and Yamuna are revered rivers. If we continue to ignore Yamuna like this, as in the case of Saraswati, Yamuna will also soon go into oblivion, never to be seen by the future generations. The very concept of burying at the banks of rivers should change. The people, I mean the socieity and the Government must find some alternative, decent place for the children.

Recently, I had been to Haridwar for a holy dip. The condition of Ganges is no better. City's various drains open to Ganges, making it water polluted. On the one side, we Hindus worship rivers like Ganges and Yamuna and on the other side, we are virtually raping them. Can't we stop this. As readers have said, BJP and RSS have found time to fight for petty issues, but they do not have time to do something about these rivers.

The predicament for Delhites is that we do not have any other place to go except such dirty places. There is urgent need to shift burial place from the banks of the river to some other better place.

Babu

This is India shining for us. 5th largest economy, soon o be 2nd etc etc. What is the use? If this article does not move anyone especially those who are parents then what will move us. A mation that cannot take care of its old, its chidren & women and ensure suitable resting place for its dead is a FAILED STATE. A by the way this is our capital city not some poor countryside.

dear friend, that is the difference. Our guys are so much focused in their daily life, they don't want to do anything for their problems. Either they would like to manage or they want someone else to solve it. It is our fate that, when the stray dogs in Bangalore kill babies one after the other and the govt decides to euthnasia the dogs, then our very citizens come on to the road protesting. What kind of culture you expect from this country men? I pray God to be reborn as a stray dog, who will have more privilege than human babies.

Cremate the body dont bury
by Sincere Citizen on May 16, 2007 01:56 PM  | Hide replies

Burial is not good for the human body rather it should be cremated (burned). Cremation doesent occupy too much space and is very clean if done right.

Whosoever you are, you need to work on your half baked knowledge. Please don't hurt people's sentiments by blogging rubbish. Let me enlighten you... Minors are not cremated (burnt), they are buried. It is improper to cremate minors.

Please get your facts right before you write publicly.

possible form of revolt
by ashok singh on May 16, 2007 01:30 PM  | Hide replies

My full sympathise with the family. And I know what I am proposing below might not be possible in those situations. But One possible way to correct this flaw is to refuse to bury the baby in that place, go to parliament house front gate. Protest with fellow well wishers against this with the baby (who has a right to be buried with dignity). And the media has a duty there too to see it thru (they never did in Nithari case, they seem to have forgotten that altogether). I know easier said than done my friends, but not untill one sanely insane guy makes that effort. Probably a fitting sentence for Sanjay Dutt wud be to buy neat land, and create a neat abode for unfortunate children who cud not share the love of their loved ones for long.
